STORMCHILD  It is simply amazing that a software company would continue to release updates to fix and improve a game released over 10 years ago. There is nobody else in the business who does it like Blizzard.

SEBEHK  It is about time! It fixes the 256-color support that caused the game to not load. Now I patiently wait for Diablo 2 and Lord of Expansion fixes.

MYSTICALOS  Actually the 256 bug is fixed by apple in 10.5.5 anyway so it's almost seems like a pointless gesture now from blizzard. it was apples bug to begin with by removing the 256 support from drivers, so they returned it in 10.5.5 beta seeds.

SEBEHK  I knew it was Apple's fault, but I did not know that 10.5.5 seeds restored 256-color support (I have no access to seeds). That's good to know.

SAGITTAE  Bryan: you are definitely not aware of programming. This game was created back in Mac OS 7-8 days. The fact that it was even able to be ported and updated as a Carbon OS X application from that far back is incredible. Many Carbon API can not be simply "Universalized". Before people speak I wish they would simply have some idea of what they are talking about.

    Totally agree on that one.

All over the internet you see people write like they knew what they're talking about when the fact is they have no clue. :(

BRYAN LAW  Why is it, that now, after one and one-half years of having Intel based Macs, do game developers release new patches, and yet do not bother making them universal binaries? I understand that Starcraft is a game that will likely run fine on an Intel Mac under Rosetta, but if they release an update this late into the Intel transition, there is no reason not to Unversalize it. The point is we shouldn't HAVE to emulate this game under Rosetta...

    **½..

TNH  This update causes several zerg issues:

    1) Infested Terrans don't create even if you are below limit. They start, but don't pop out (this is when you take a friendly base, but it's still owned by you so this should work

    2) Queen targeting for spawn broodling shows red reticule over enemy buildings and green over allies (this is probably normal and it's ok, but if you can do it then shouldn't you?)

I think the fix MAY be when zerg buildings are created next to a boundary and the spawned critters keep popping and dying, I haven't noticed this happening recently.

Not being able to make infested terrans is poor so I'm not too happy w/ this upgrade.

SOME ANONYMOUS KIDS  One reason we have never updated

StarCraft to OS X is because we can play online with Mac OS 8.6

    (w/Dial-up connection!!)

running some fairly old verion of SCBW.

We assume that upgrading to OS X will destroy this ability since trying to

run WarCraft in OS X with Dial-up online is totally useless. We always get speed bumped with WCiii in OS X and _never_ bumped in SCBWClassic!

We hope Blizzard does not read

this if it is only going to make them

want to make Dial-up users obsolete!!!!
