DESCRIPTION
XDarwin provides the ability to run XWindow applications on Mac OS X and is similar in functionality to XTools from Tenon.

To install, do the following:

  1. Acquire root permissions, e.g., sudo -s
  2. Copy the file just downloaded, e.g., XDarwin1.0.4.1.tgz to / with the command cp XDarwin1.0.4.1.tgz /
  3. cd /
  4. gnutar zxvf XDarwin1.0.4.1.tgz

WHAT'S NEW
Version 4.3 adds the following:
  • Hardware accelerated GLX in rootless mode
  • Ability to use all native Mac OS X fonts
  • new -configure X server option
  • Faster 2-D drawing in rootless mode
  • Much faster full screen mode 2-D drawing, comparable to rootless mode
  • New font configuration library (fontconfig)
REQUIREMENTS
MacOS X 10.1 or later (including 10.2).

    MICHAEL FRANKEL  After installing it DOESN'T WORK. This is the second time I've tried this.

    Here's the output from my OS X console:

    XFree86 Version 4.1.99.1 / X Window System

    If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your hardware is

    newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
