KOSOVAR1  FinderPop was the cat's meow until we users started upgrading to Snow Leopard and 64-bit, as I did from day 1 SL was released. I was very sorry to see right away that FinderPop was severely crippled under the SL. For me, the hierarchal folder items list doesn't work even under Finder and only under just a few apps when they are in the fore. I am extremely grateful to Mr. Turley for making this utility available to users at no cost and so I will not complain if he chooses not to fix the bugs. Nevertheless, I will miss FinderPop because it was one of the best of its class. I also just read he had some type of accident, so we should all wish him well and perhaps make some extra donations to help him pull through this misfortune without too big a financial hit.

MAX GAAV  With much pleasure I used FinderPop for years. Thank you Turly!

But as said by others as well, it doesn't funtion properly with Snow Leopard. And to be honest, before, in Leopard it also did not work flawless when Excel or Filemaker Pro was the active app.

I thus tried several launchers and contextual menu modifiers and one of them has become my favorite, even over FP. And, like FP, it is free: XMenu 1.9 (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13797/xmenu).

Same functionality as FP (though now from an icon in the menubar) but also other features like the very handy 'snippets'. It takes a bit time to study the settings etc. but in the end that's just a small hurdle to take for such a wonderfull workflow improvement tool.

SAMUEL222  I love FindePop, but... I switched to Snow Leopard. Version 2.2.2 does work with

32 bit apps, but finder is now 64. So, you can see your FinderPop clicking on the

menu bar, but if not finder is acting, but, say, Safari. This makes this wonderful

app useless, at least for me, because I can put any my app's to the Doc.

Well, let us wait until FinderPop works for 64 bit apps.

DRDUL  An FYI for anyone who is (like I was) suffering without FinderPop on OS X 10.6, FolderGlance is a great alternative. It offers features similar to FinderPop and the developer is as responsive as Turly is. The only downside to FolderGlance (as compared with FinderPop) is that it costs $20, but I am so dependent on contextual menus to get things done that I gladly paid the price! I'll still be keeping an eye out for a 10.6-compatble version of FinderPop, but in the meantime, it's nice to have an option that allows me to use contextual menus on 10.6.

ERIC WOEHLER  Finderpop DOES work on Snow Leopard - under some circumstances.

It wont work when Finder is app in front, but if other apps are in front, and if you have set the FP pref so if you click on the unused menu bar, FP opens. It will not work as a contextual menu on the desktop, but limited use is available - as long as Finder not the front-most app.

DRDUL  Turly (the developer) was unfortunately involved in a collision with a bus a couple of months ago, and as a result has warned FinderPop users not to expect a 10.6-compatible version for a while. Like many others, I have become totally dependent on FinderPop, and will be at a complete loss when I upgrade to Snow Leopard next month. I would welcome any suggestions for apps that offer some of the functionality and ease of use of FinderPop, that I could make do with until FinderPop is upgraded for OS X 10.6.

LOUKASH  I have tried and paid for many FinderPop OS X "replacements" in the past, but none has ever come close to the real thing. In fact, not even the reborn FP versions 2.0 and 2.1. But now with v2.2 FinderPop is back where the OS 9 version left off, and even more. Welcome back!

P.S. A big Thank You to Ittec, Folder Glance and Butler (which is a class on its own, actually!) for bridging the gap for the past few years.

EASER  This has always been indispensable for me. I'm not certain, but I think he introduced another, subtle feature I had asked for long ago. When I right-click, FinderPop does allow me to have a smaller font size for the pop-up menu. But now it also gives me that smaller font size in sub-menus as well. I used to use Fruit Menu to accomplish the latter, but I've never gotten that (or most other Unsanity products) to work in Leopard. Now if he can just do windowshading, the world will be perfect!
