ARTBEAT  Doesn't work with 10.4.10!! Can't apply any settings. Before it worked fine. To me the most important thing was the ability to make the finder icon removable…

LITTLEHACKER  I had the same problem too!

    Use this app: "cleardock" (http://www.coolosxapps.net/2007/06/18/cleardock-free-dock-utility/).

It's a good substitute for "Transparent Dock" while waiting for the update!

POETGUY  Thank you LITTLEHACKER for putting me on to ClearDock. I could not get TD 2.3.9 to work on my 10.4.11; nor could I get any support from the developer after 4-5 emails. I don't know what their deal is, but now that I have ClearDock, I don't care. thanks again.

JEFF H.  Nix that...not TD's fault...it's Safari 3 beta's fault. Is there any way to get my Transparent Dock back? I reinstalled the 10.4.9 update with no results...

JEFF H.  Completely stopped working! Reinstalled, trashed prefs, everything...and I just bought this thing this month! Didn't even get a full month for my $8! What a rip!

LUKECOMINS  This wee app has always been terrific! Why Mac doesn't give us options to make these changes to our dock in the actual 'Dock Preferences' I really don't know... I have made use of TranspDock on all my Macs over the last however many years BUT please note - there is still no MacOS Intel compatible version available. You mention that "Verison 2.3.9 updated for compatibility with Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.8" but do not state that it is for PowerPC only, and not the Intel Macs...

Come on Free Range® and do the homework so we can have our beloved Transparent Dock once again.

Long live transparent docks! (take note Apple!)

YOUNGIE  10.4.9 once again has broken this great little app!

Here is hoping they find a quick fix - I really don't like doing without this one!

I still am surprised that Apple hasn't allowed us to make the dock background transparent yet themselves?!!!!

SPLUNK23  Yeah, it just stopped working for me today. I don't understand it. I've had 10.4.9 installed and working fine with it since it came out. I've restarted the computer several times before with no problems. Now I installed Safari 3.0 beta and TransparentDock no longer works…

DSOSB  I have been waiting for a long time for the universal version of this terriffic app. I really do miss it! I have used it for years now and it was always the first app I updated when I upgraded software. Please get an Intel happy version out ASAP. If the developer doesn't want to do it maybe Apple could buy him out and offer it as part of Leopard. It is a GREAT app.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  From the developer's site:

    "Why no Intel version?...

Until a couple of weeks ago, the primary reason would be no Intel machine available for testing. Recently though, I was finally able to purchase my first Intel-based Mac (actually my first Mac purchase since my G3 Powerbook in 2000). I've now received that MacBook Pro and assessing the possibility of reworking TransparentDock to allow customization of the Dock on the Intel-based Macs. What I've found so far is that the current patches that were established for Dock customization by TransparentDock on PowerPC-based Macs will not work for the Dock on the Intel Macs. So it seems it will take some time to determine what's possible, and whether perhaps an entirely different approach may be necessary. So, I guess the short(ish) answer now would be I haven't yet established access to many of the TransparentDock options for the Dock running on Intel Macs. So... why do other application(s) continue to work on both PowerPC & Intel Macs that modify the dock appearance? Mainly due to a different patching approach, for which I have only found success with modifying the dock window attributes (color, transparency, etc.). Many of the other dock customizations available within TransparentDock have proven more difficult to access using current patching methods."
