RBASIL  Does not sync with anything else, UI looks like it is 4+ years old. No thanks.

BRILORMAC  The UI uses modern Apple elements such as Databrowsers, unicode edit fields and more. These are clearly modern. Not every application needs to have an iTunes UI. The multiple windows approach allows the user to close windows not being used and keep only the small calendar window ( or whatever windows they desire to see ) visible. CCN X has always been a practical program with a simple interface; It was not written to provide "eye candy". Most of the comments from registered users indicate they like the simple interface.

ZO219  Doggedly on, year after year, ignoring all that has happened to the Mac interface in the meantime. Sadly, for terminal geeks only.

Assuming this statement is true, which it isn't, it sounds like a slam of folks using terminal. Most of my users are non-technical folks from all walks of life including teachers, artists, and others. Most are not technical. What they like is simplicity and CCN X provides that. CCN X was never meant to have a comparable interface or feature set of some of the more complicated PIMs.

ANONYMOUS  Not wanting to rant for the sake of ranting, but you could get Palm Desktop for free and it does all that and even more and it even synchs to and fro this little Palm gizmo thingie. I don't have any interests in Palm One Inc. but their excellent pim software is FREE, like in you-don't-have-to-pay-for-it. Just wondering what the point is with this app.

BRIAN STEVENS  After reading your comment I went to VersionTracker (sorry) to read the reviews on version 4.2.1 of Palm desktop. The most recent are not complimentary and even say it won't install in Tiger. THIS is one of the reasons I wrote CCN X. It runs fine in all of OS X. Also, Palm Desktop is clearly a freebie ("lost leader") meant to help generate interest and use of their Palm products. If Palm decides to discontinue it, the users will have little recourse because they didn't pay for it. CCN X (and its predecessors) was written in 1998 before many of the good alternatives were available, and has been updated consistently. I'd like to download Palm Desktop and compare features, but since it won't install in Tiger I can't. My bet is some features in CCN X don't exist in that product. For example, CCN X's implementation of event timers was a user request based on an old OS 9 product that did only that function. I haven't found this feature elsewhere. Also, unlike some applications (many of which are very good - like iCal) most users find CCN X simple to use. Lastly, I have hundreds of registered users that tell me with their fee and comments that CCN X has value. God willing, I'll be around for many more years and keep supporting my users. As a one person company, I turn around bugs and fixes quickly. There has never been a user that had a problem with CCN X for more than 1 day.

ANONYMOUS  Dude, if you don't like it and like Palm better, GREAT, go get Palm. Don't discourage this developer from developing a product that tons of users fine adequate for there needs.

STERNHAMMER  I think the original poster raised a fair question: what is the point of this software in the face of the competition. The developer has also given a fair answer so what's the problem? Everyone is a little better informed.

If I had a question it would be how does CCN stack up against iCal, considering iCal is free and synchronises with other things (such as my Palm Treo 600 via iSync.) Incidentally Palm Desktop still works fine for me on 10.4.3 though it's been ages since I installed it.

BRUCE C.  Nice, clean interface. Boots up quickly, installed with ease on my laptop which uses OS 8.6 and includes all the features you really need to manage your day. Well worth the small $15 shareware fee. A great product!
