LEOOFBORG So let me get this straight -- 6 real months of real dev so that we can get ONE major different features [for video geeks, okay, I get it]. If this was worthy of being called Toast 9.5 I could see them rounding up. But this is, at most a Toast 9.*2* with the one major feature. Roxio should NOT be rounding up this time. This is just crass. Also, Roxio's idea of 'Pro' is to add... shovelware? How very Windows. Sorry Roxio, but how stupid do you think Mac folks are? I also don't see any Cocoa or Interface Build controls to make this look more 'Mac-like'.. tho' I could be wrong. Clarification: It's NOT 79-20= $59 .. it's '$79 after $20 rebate'.. MacUpdate, you can do a better editing job than that. All around, this is a bad deal at the current price point, and to folks who bought Toast 9. They still haven't fixed bugs from Toast 9! My advice is to wait until Roxio drops the price about 3-6 months from now. Toast 7 folks should upgrade. Toast 8 and 9 folks, really think about this. Seriously. (Version 10)

NAOH If you check the Roxio website, you will find that the update from Toast 9 to Toast 10 is $59.99 That's not using the discount through MacUpdate. (Version 10)
| Jan 5 2009 |
NAOH Even with the $59.99 upgrade, I'm not at all sure about what added value Toast 10 has over Toast 9 with the Blu-Ray plug-in. It seems to me that Toast 10 is simply a branding exercise to allow Roxio to roll out a Pro version that has loads of bundled third party tools that have little or no value to anyone who isn't already using Toast as the core in their media workflow. My impression is that Roxio are trying to reposition Toast into being a media workshop, rather than a disc authoring tool. The features that are being added don't appeal to me, as they are things I can already do with other tools, or have no need for. If Roxio were to provide improved integration into existing workflows, instead of trying to create yet another way to do the same things, I would be all ears. Until I see some compelling features being added to Toast beyond what is already included in Toast 9, I'll stay put. (Version 10)

HARRISTYPE Roxio just lost me. I purchased the boxed version of Toast 9 in the beginning of December 2008, and now I'd have to buy Toast 10 all over again, with a whopping $20 off coupon. Whoop-di-doo and good riddance. I'm sticking with Toast 9 until it stops working, or until Roxio stops burning their customers with no grace period for upgrading. (Version 10)

JAMUS Come on Roxio! Lay off the stinking forced login to get an update. That is getting to be so annoying. It is a bug fix so shouldn't you be wanting to make it easier for your customers to be able to get this update so your own product will function better and therefore give customers a better image of your product? Sheeeeesh. (Version 9.0.4)

ZUDO Since the update is actually the entire program instead of an updater, they have to do something like this. It's interesting to ask why they can't make an updater. It would also be much smaller in size. (Version 9.0.4)

JON555 As someone else said, lipstick on a pig indeed. Who are you trying to fool Roxio? Stop releasing new "versions" and calling them major updates. Each "version" gets worse. How about instead of tacking on a ton of other USELESS software and bloating Toast out with things it doesn't need, you could try making a solid application for once? (Version 10.0.1)

SHOTGUNWEDDINGS I'd have to agree with all the reviewers below. Toast Titanium is an excellent product for burning disc's , but now we have version 7 , 8 , 9 and 10 , all essentially the same thing for a different minimum OSX. So it is normal to redo it and take full advantage of each new OSX. But who cares about the 3rd party garbage included with this new Pro version. It's all second rate or crippled software. Please Roxio, focus on disc burning, forget the extra garbage you've been bundling with Toast Titanium. This ain't the PC world, Mmac users don't like to be insulted with crippled and second rate bundled garbage! For those of you that don't own Toast Titanium already, the better deal is the standard version if you ask me and for those of you that already own an earlier version, there isn't too much new stuff to jump at in version 10. -1 for value (Version 10)

MACVAULT "But who cares about the 3rd party garbage included with this new Pro version. It's all second rate or crippled software." Dude, have you even tried Fotomagico? Hardly 2nd rate crap. I'm not saying you should buy the pro version of Toast, but don't make baseless statements about other software you obviously haven't tried. Nothing beats Fotomagico for slideshows on the Mac. I'm a pro photographer, and believe me, I've tried them all. I don't know about the rest of the bundle (it may be junk), but Fotomagico is 1st rate. (Version 10)

REVCO The problem is, with previous Roxio/Toast bundles anyway, all the extra software was Roxio Editions. Meaning Roxio will be responsible for support and getting updates out to you. That's not going to happen. If you need a bug fixed you'll have to spring for the retail version (at a slightly reduced rate). Happened to me with Toast 8 and 9 bundled software. Is that so for Toast 10 Pro? (Version 10)
| Jan 7 2009 |
SHOTGUNWEDDINGS MACVAULT , you haven't actually checked out the complaints on Roxio's forum about the "bundled" software for Toast 9 or 10 have you ? Although some of the programs , if purchased separately may be GREAT programs, but the RE bundled versions are crippled, outdated and cannot be updated . As mentioned, the bundled programs are either crippled or not supported by their developer's and you may as play frogger for real on a 16 lane highway while awaiting a resolution to any issues with the bundled software from Roxio's forum. (Version 10)
| Jan 7 2009 |
Actually I have not been on Roxio's forum. If that's the case (with the 3rd party add ons being crippled) that's a real shame. I never, or rarely, use the 3rd party stuff in bundles, but would think that the 3rd parties would want people to have a good experience with their stuff so that they'd get "hooked" and continue to upgrade. Shame. In any case, based on what I'm reading about Toast 10, I won't be upgrading it, or FM Pro 10, or Quickbooks, or any MS software... Until these companies start adding some real value, there's no point in throwing away $$. Eventually, when enough people start voting with their wallets, maybe they'll get a clue and actually improve their stuff. What a concept ;)

WHITEROCK Wow. Another annual tax! Affecting myself, that's StuffIt, Photoshop, Toast and, of course, the annual upgrade of OSX. I haven't and won't upgrade. I wish them all bankruptcy in the new year (except Apple). Previous reviewers have said it all. (Version 10)

REDGREEN I too am growing VERY wary of the annual full charge fee for every version of Toast. Why can't they have a typical upgrade charge?? $ If there was a $40 upgrade, sure I happy with that that, but $99 or $150??!! Nope. At least I have found that it is best to wait it out and buy it cheaper from Amazon or elsewhere rather that their website. (Version 10)

HARV The Toast 9 upgrade price is $59.99. See http://www.roxio.com/enu/upgrade_center/toast/default.html Other Roxio products and versions have different upgrade prices. See http://www.roxio.com/enu/upgrade_center/default.html (Version 10)

LARAINE Having looked at the new features in Toast 10, I've decided to stick with 9.0.4. The upgrade price is atrocious for what's being offered. In fact, I thought the price for Toast 9 was pretty grim. It looked bad enough in American dollars; try looking at it in New Zealand dollars! I'm not having any problems with Toast 9.0.4 (so far, anyway) but I often long for the simplicity of my previous version, Toast 5. Unfortunately, I started needing more than Toast 5 could offer. :-( (Version 10.0.1)

REDNAIL Couldn't agree more with the sentiments here. I'm actually pretty angry, after paying for this software for years I've had enough. I'm sticking with 9 until Roxio offer something that is worth another $100! Sheesh When are these guys going to learn that if you make things a fair price that people will happily pay? Shame on you Roxio. (Version 10.0.1)

MACINTOSH SAUCE I am getting so sick of companies that are pulling this crap on Mac users. One or two bug fixes and then you release a major upgrade that gives no real price break to users who have supported your pathetic company for years. Roxio, do you actually think we are that stupid? One other company did this to me recently with StuffIt Deluxe, and I decided to wipe their software off of my Macs. Bye-bye. (Version 10)
