MCFERG72  I'm very happy with SilverFast for my Canoscan 8800F. The results are way better than what you can achieve with Canoscan.

And is this a surprise ? SilverFast is a professional software many photographers rely on.

SilverFast has unique patented techniques, it has won the EDP award for the best color management software in 2008.

Hmm, I can't understand some of the comments below. Maybe they used very old versions ? Ok, they were written some years ago. They developed a lot of new features (look here: http://www.silverfast.com/show/scanners-canon/en.html) in the meantime. I don't know, if it was slower than Canoscan that days, but these days it's not, it's fast, it's silverfast :)

BAD JOBS - GOOD JOBS  works well but very slow and is very very expensive, would cost me more than my scanner!

I will stay with Agfa Fotolook or Vuescan on my older Arcus 1200

DIETER MAY  Keine Schwarz/Weiss(1-bit)-Scans möglich mit Powerlook 1120 und ScanMaker i900. Unbrauchbar langsam bei grossen Vorlagen. Keine Probleme mt der mitgelieferten Scansoftware.

CHANDIVINE  The MultiSampling feature has really improved my image quality! Great effort there. I am fascinated by the speed of HiREPP - I opened a 1,5 GB file in under 5 seconds! Well done. Have a good day!

AMMADAS  I have been using SilverFast Ai for over 1 year now with my Epson Perfection 3170 Photo.

The results I get are impressive. Very often I don't have to make many adjustments because the automatic feature is so powerful. The interface is easy to use and I could start getting productive in a short amount of time. The features that I didn't understand right away where explained well through all the tutorial videos that come for free.

Thanks LaserSoft, what a great product.

JOEFRIDAY  I've installed and used various scanner packages in my many years as a graphic artist, and my impression of Silverfast software is that it's very 'amateurish' and awkward.. yes, it might produce some good scans, but the interface is too of a pain.. and try getting support from the company!

I'm dumping the Umax scanner that I recently acquired just to get rid of Silverfast.. I'll switch back to Microtek and their excellent ScanWizard package (that Microtek provides for free, btw.. none of this "pay us $50 for the full version bullsh*t")

STEVE  I checked out "Silverfast" because I read where someone slammed VueScan and praised silverfast.

After checking it out, I am convinced that whoever wrote that is just someone who stands to gain by people buying silverfast.

First off, getting info from their website is a JOKE. Someone got real cute with Java and there are plenty of pull down menus - but actually getting the BASIC info that someone might want required more work than what the customer should be responsible to put in. That is YOUR job silverfast!

My advice to silverfast - get some Ethics - don't slam a competitor in order to promote your inferior product.

Also, improve your website. Simplifying the site would be advantageous.

MACANACK  Excellent hi-end scanning software at a very reasonable price. The Ai version works on my Epson 2450 Perfection Firewire very, very well as did Silverfast SE which came bundled with my 2450. The update which allows SE to work on OS X was only $20. 48-bit scans, you name it.

Once I saw how well it worked I upgraded to the full version of Ai. Awesome.
