Fixed

- [4537] No desktop icon when using ‘mount’ command
- [4558] ‘Operation failed’ error when saving an Office 2007 file to a DAVE share
Known Problems
- Apple’s Backup 3 software does not work with DAVE mounted volumes.
- Backing up a DAVE share using Windows XP backup utility does not work.
- Changing a domain password limits passwords to 14 characters or less.
- DAVE SMB Signing will not work with Windows 2000 unless you apply service pack 4 or later. Connecting to a share will result in the error “Access denied” if signing fails. If you receive this error when connecting to a shared folder, consult your system log to see if a signing error occurred. If so, you should check to see if you have the correct service pack applied for Windows 2000 servers.
- More than one user cannot open an AutoCAD file at a time.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

RPAEGE After experiencing serious problems with DAVE 8.0 in Snow Leopard — unfinished copies over SMB, disappearing files on SMB shares, errors deleting files on SMB shares — we were forced to uninstall DAVE. Once it was removed things returned to normal. Clearly DAVE 8.0 is not ready yet. Wait for the problems to be worked out first, as it is nearly unusable in its current state. DAVE 7.1.2 works perfectly in Leopard. (Version 8.0)

ERDRD Worked for me with OSX 10.4 and Server 2K3. The server wouldn't authenticate me with built-in OS X Samba tools. With Dave - immediate success. This is easier than trying to get IT to change the authenication scheme on the server installation (especially if there are only 2 Macs on the network). (Version 6.2.1)

POOP1 Unfortunatly I can't really recommend this application. True, they support more authentication methods. This probably helps a lot of people. But they do NOT support the ability to hit hidden shares. So if you have a share that is called, say: cifs://fileserver1/groups$/engineering, you can't mount it with Tiger's SMB client, NOR can you access it with Dave. I'd gladly reach into my pockets and peel out a debit card if someone could make something to let me do that. It is the single reason I have a PC on my desk at work. That, and to change the domain password now and then. (Version 6.1)

MAC0852 You can change your Domain password using the Kerberos.app in /System/Library/CoreServices - you don't need to be bound into the domain, just enter username@my.domain and Change Password. (Version 6.2.1)

BINGO MACGEE Actually, DAVE can mount hidden shares, but will not be able to mount a sub-directory of that share unles it is itself a sharepoint on the server. You'd probly get more info from Thursby Support, though... (Version 6.2.1)

ANONYMOUS This still exists? I used to use this on a machine running OS 8.1, but since OS X it seems pretty useless. (Version 6.0)

SCOTT I have tried to use MAC's own built in settings to login windows networks and have not been able to.?? I purchased Dave and was able to login and reach file shares etc with no problem. BUT after upgrading to Tiger Dave 5.X would no longer work. I need to wait until they sent out patch etc. It turned out Thurbys would not let me upgrade to 6.x unless I bought the upgrade. No new upgrade from 5.X even though I only brought it 9 months ago no upgrades what a rip off. (Version 6.0)

ANONYMOUS Everything this software does, Mac OS X can do already. Sort of like buying a steering wheel for a car that already has one. (Version 6.0)

SIXER Sir, please do yourself a huge favor and stop using the near-unusable 10.1. I know this is a corny comment but really, 10.1 does not represent Mac OS X as a phenomenon. Either go back to OS 9 or switch to either Panther or Tiger. Furthermore, a fix to you not being able to meet system requirements, undoubtedly does not exist. (Version 6.0)

DOH... "Sixer", do yourself a big favor: note that the post you are replying to is about a year old and therefore very "stale". Not likely the person will be checking your arguably redundant reply. (Version 6.0)

ANONYMOUS SOmething's broken with 5.1. I am unable to log into my Microsoft network. Keep getting Inavlid ID or password. So just to be sure it wasn't "user error", I uninstalled it and reinstalled version 5.01 and am able to login with no problems. Guess I'll stick with it. (Version 5.1)

AXEL It is better to go directly to Thursby and do the upgrade if you have a valid annual agreement. Your old license number will not work-- you must get issued a new one from Thursby. http://www.thursby.com/purchase/upgrades.html (Version 5.0)
