DESCRIPTION
Quick Pallet Maker... Most products are shipped in boxes and then in standard pallets. Most of the time, these standard pallets are shipped within standard containers or in trucks. Frequently, there is some extra volume and/or weight in the containers or in the trucks that is billed anyway by the carrier but that is not used by the client. The use of this extra space through software tools should be an important factor for all manufacturers.

Based on this need, at SCA Mecanica we have created Quick Pallet Maker, an easy to learn pallet loading/package design program that allows the user to calculate the optimal secondary package dimensions and pallet arrangements, thus reducing shipping costs.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 4.4.9:
  • [All] BF: Box board type would always show the same text in the Detailed Report window.
  • [All] BF: QPM would crash when calculating too many box fills. Now it just slows down.
  • [All] BF: Pallet Report printout would show misplaced items.
  • [All] AF: Updated the Quick Pallet Maker reference manual that can be downloaded from the application itself.
  • [All] BF: Stretch-wrap and trays that were used for filling with primary packages were not drawing correctly on pallets.
  • [All] BF: Fixed internal bug in flat calculation algorithm that would deliver less items per layer.
  • [All] BF: Fixed crash when printing boxes with bottles inside.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

SMTIPS  This price should open the door for a more reasonable developer to offer a similar product at a much lower and less insane price.

TOMAS SANCIO  That's precisely what we did.

Compare the Quick Pallet Maker price to CAPE (http://www.capesystems.com) or TOPS (http://www.topseng.com) for an idea of competing products. Note that they don't have Mac OSX versions. There's another product that is more than $1000 that I can't recall right now.

Also note that we haven't charged for upgrades in 5 years, so the customers that paid once for some features have been treated with many more.

    Cheers.

NED JEFFRIES WAREHOUSE MGR.  The author needs to find a price justification algorithm. Anybody who really needs this program will be happy to go through a few hoops to register it. At this price, the author is so insanely off base he can't expect to worry about support calls keeping him away from making the $299 update.

TOMAS SANCIO  For an example of some savings while using Quick Pallet Maker, consider the one on the following link. This person is saving US$ 51,000 per year with the new container arrangement.

What we recommend people to do is to use their own data to calculate their shipping costs for X amount of items from point A to B before and after calculating a pallet arrangement with Quick Pallet Maker. If it's more than the $379, then fine. If not, then you were able to do all that without being hassled by a salesman.

    Cheers.

TOMAS SANCIO  From the developer: Note that competitor's products are more expensive and that they don't offer no-hassle free 30-day downloads.

    ANONYMOUS  $379.00?

I'm sure there's some rationalization for that price... but it's a definite deal breaker for most self-employed or small business people, rationalization or not.
