IGREG  This thing is driving me nuts with SOHO Notes 7.07 and Snow Leopard. It is locking me out of my own database.

AROBULACK  BEWARE: Before trying out this software, be aware that there is no documented way to uninstall it from your system and it installs a wide variety of files all over the place. It is very, very difficult to remove from your system once installed.

GRAHAM PERRIN  I agree, the absence of an uninstaller is peculiar.

We can at least disable the peculiarly named agent and daemon,

    openlaunch

GRAHAM PERRIN  Someone from OpenBase steered me to

    /Library/OpenBase/bin/RemoveOpenBaseScript

It ran as root with the following result:

    [macbookpro08-centrim:~] gjp22% sudo /Library/OpenBase/bin/RemoveOpenBaseScript

    Password:

    Sorry, try again.

CCTRAMER  Reliable, fast and powerful with a constantly expanding feature set. Integrated webFones VoIP dialer (if you haven't checked this feature out do so). Prompt response from the developer and an amazing developer community. Best cross platform db server on the market. Thanks for the .11 dynamic IP fix for us road warriors. Keep up the great work.

D0112358  Ever since I upgraded to Leopard I've been having major problems with Openbase. Namely, it won't work after a restart–the processes cannot boot up again. The only way I can solve this is to uninstall and reinstall everything but if I restart again it's crippled. I contacted tech support and all the could tell me was to download the most recent version of their software. Very poor.

RYAN.GOV  I wrote to the company asking how to uninstall their product and got no response. I'm pretty unhappy about that. I'd steer clear of this product.

ANONYMOUS  It doesn't appear to work with Tiger.

I tried to install StickyBrain yesterday, and OpenBase wouldn't fire up.

The relevant scripts are present in /etc/startupitems, it's just that it's not starting up.

Perhaps Apple changed the requirements for the scripts, or it's also possible that there's a Tiger Bug right now that prohibits OpenBase from working -- not clear where the blame lies yet.

ANONYMOUS  looks like OpenBase needs an update - which isn't downloadable yet. That's what the OpenbaseManager just told me:

    2005-04-22 11:57:25 +0200: &ABORT - StickyBrain_MYUSERNAME: This OpenBase version has expired for MacOS X 10.4 Beta. Please use a newer version of OpenBase on MacOS X 10.4

ANONYMOUS  OpenBase SQL version 9.0 fully supports both Tiger and Panther. OpenBase SQL version 8.0.4 will not operate on Tiger or Panther 10.3.9 because it predates it.

JMCNEIL  Be sure to check for networking DNS problems. Leopard has serious new issues in this area, and OpenBase is affected. I had to mess with DNS to make my laptop work in one location yesterday, and it completely broke Openbase when I got home. Putting my home DNS config back fixed it.

I got the hint here: http://forums.marketcircle.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7391090833/m/7941070915
