ROBOTANK  iCab is a fantastic browser. I'm using it as my default browser currently, though I tend to switch occassionally between it and OmniWeb, the only other Mac browser that has comparable advanced features and bears comparison to iCab (except perhaps Opera, which will never really be a Mac browser for me). In any case, iCab is currently my pick because it has both OmniWeb's features and Safari's performance. Running in 64-bit under SL and using the system WebKit framework, iCab is blazingly fast and clearly outperforms OmniWeb. Needless to say, iCab is extremely feature-rich and allows you to customize just about every aspect of your browsing. The only real stumbling block I have ever encountered with iCab is that locating and understanding all of its features and settings can be a little bit difficult and/or time consuming. For instance, using the filter manager to set a simple domain preference (say, user-agent string for me.com) takes far longer than it does with OmniWeb's site preferences. Another example: iCab's JavaScript settings offer numerous options, the meanings of which may not be apparent to some users (i.e. how to block pop-up windows) and could benefit from more detailed documentation. On the other hand, the trade-off in both cases is superior control. iCab's filter manager offers more fine-grained control (i.e. not restricted to second-level domains only) than OW's site prefs, and iCab allows more control over JavaScript than OW. If you're willing to take a bit of time to sort through all of iCab's myriad options, you'll find an extremely powerful and customizable browser that blows Safari and Firefox out of the water. Note that iCab also works with the most essential browser plugins, 1Password and Click-to-Flash. Finally, if you want more thorough ad-blocking than comes with iCab's included filter examples, check out the additional filters on the Downloads page of the iCan website (I've found that GlimmerBlocker doesn't play nice with iCab; I have no idea why).

ISTRA  what a great browser!

Many things work different than all the rest (who seem to be all the same), and some little functionality stuff could be "improved" = expanded, but iCab is a browser to fall in love with!

Congratulations mr. developer :-)

GREGORGY  iCab rocks. End of story.

Safari, on two Macs, just goes south when a PDF link is clicked. iCab keeps quiet and does what it should.

And as for finding errors on webpages, old smiley cannot be beat! I have been an on/off iCab user since the classic days and have always loved it. It is my browser of choice and well worth the $20...

I have never regretted the purchase but I will say one thing: it really could do with a remember username/password thing like Firefox. Besides that, no beating iCab

TOMECK  Agreed. Maybe it is of interest that you could ´fix´ the ´username/password thing´ by using 1password, which integrates with iCab since some time now... works great for me.

TACALIT  Really good browser, I'm planning to buy it as i did with the iPhone version.

I guess the developer will find a way to easily keep synched the bookmarks between iCab, iCab Mobile and Safari as, for istance, xmarks is doing between Firefox and Safari.

STROB  I would have purchased iCab except Silverlight crashes it. Normally responsive developer says it is a problem with the plug-in. But this is not logical since this behavior can not be replicated in any other browser I have. Please fix this as I am confident you could.

BONGO_X  I love it. Safari is OK, I like Camino and it was my default browser for a long time. No browser I tried was exactly what I wanted so I went searching and tried icab, which I hadn't used since OS9. It has everything I want, every feature, and is totally customizable. The only issue is that some of the features are not obvious and are easy to miss. Everything I thought was a shortcoming was soon proven not to be with an email to the developer.

So I gave him my $25. Well worth it.
