MACMEND.COM  What are most asset trackers and helpdesk software but databases.

This is a simple database for the above. IT works well enough, it looks reasonable too.

    It is a little costly

especially when you start to compare it to some of the single seat and opensource products in the market that are installed via php/mysql on a web server.

Some of these will scan your system much like ARD does and give immediate asset management.

They are trying to update this but its a little old hat.

It could be improved by importing from ARD (essential)

    Being lower in cost.

DBAKKERS  CA Pro version 3 was a great little app that helped you build a database of computers and peripherals, then track service calls and software installations against them based on user interaction. Sort of mixed asset manager and mini helpdesk / call centre app based on a Filemaker runtime. It was simple, effective and worth the small fee to use it.

Version 4.0 hopes to build on this by converting the database over to Filemaker v8, so as to allow the owner to host it on a server or via Filemaker Pro; however, v4.0 is still seriously incomplete. Many of the functions do not work, lots of fields do not auto complete as expected and some parts from v3.0 are missing entirely.

No development progress seems to have been made since late 2005, and it is little more than a basic asset manager at this point. Download it first and explore thoroughly before you make a license purchase.
