MICHAEL PUSKAS  I never ever bother with shareware programs [money's been tight ever since college], but after trying a demo of Melody Assistant I knew that I had to register to get the full features... it's just that amazing. I had been trying to find an effective and easy-to-use program to write sheet music with for quite some time, and I was absolutely blown away by what Melody had to offer.

ARVIDTP  I've had melody for a real long time now and finally with this release realtime MIDI recording works! Finally! It finally puts the notes in the right place - right where I played them! This version is a great update!

As always Melody is a bit eccentric and certain things like stem control for writing SATB on Grand Staff are awkward, but this is OK for now. I continue to use this until, and maybe after Coda upgrades printmusic for OS X. Those slow people! sorry.

ARVIDTP  sorry- I take that back - realtime MIDI input doesn't work anymore ???? This must be fixed!!! Arg! and it kills the OS X MIDI system once you quit so you have to log out and back in to use other MIDI apps. Arrgg!!

GRIGIO60  Near-pro quality at just 15 euros/US$ worth. I also experienced directly a very quick responsiveness by the authors when I had to flag a problem. Great piece of shareware at a more-than-fair price. Kudos to those French guys!

IAN PILKINGTON  This program is worth every penny/cent/Euro. Like other commentators I have looked at and disregarded commercial rivals but have bought into this. Melody Assistant can do everything I want and more besides. Excellent.

WILLIS  This progam works great for me, I know just enough about writing music to get into lots of trouble, Melody Assistant takes all the trouble out and I can download all the old & new songs I want in a flash and have great fun in playing along.

ANONYMOUS  This program is overall well worth the money. I seldom purchase shareware, because it is often hard to justify the price. However, Melody Assistant immediately struck me as a bargain, and I felt compelled to register.

I was shopping for music notation software. I first researched the brand-name commercial programs. These all cost upwards of $150, some going into the $400 or $500 range. This was well beyond the scope of my budget.

I then discovered Melody Assistant. It has a very competitive feature set, and the price is several orders of magnitude more competitive than any comparable product.

The interface is somewhat eccentric, and takes getting used to. However, it is not a POOR interface. Beyond the learning curve, it is quite well designed.

    I experienced no stability problems.

My only qualm is that the printed output is not up to the standards of commerial software. It is adaquate, but do not expect your scores to look like proffesionally engraved music.
