JON555 Adobe, on the internet, you're one of the most hated companies around. A vast majority of websites use Flash. You've developed Flash for the 3 main platforms (Windows, OS X, and Linux), but that's it. You don't bother to optimize your terrible code, you don't bother to provide consistent updates, hell you don't even bother to post release notes sometimes. So instead of just further throwing your image to the world away and giving everyone a bad impression of you, how about actually trying to support your products. Flash 10 runs terribly even on modern hardware (and even worse when on OS X or Linux, not that the Windows version is that much better). There is ZERO excuse for this. On behalf of myself and the rest of the internet, PLEASE, get your act together. (Version 10.0.32.18)

SPRINGHEELMAC Adobe released another update to version 9; it's 9.0.246.0. I prefer to use this on my PPC eMac as version 10 is a little too much for the old girl. It also has all the latest security updates like 10. It always me to still view all the material that is too choppy on 10. Here's the link: 'get.adobe.com/flashplayer' Simply select "Flash 9" from the drop down. Also, one benefit over this one is the installation. Unlike 9.0.159.0, it is self explanatory. Open the file and it shows with arrows where the files go. Drag the two files to two folders and you're done. While not as fancy as a self installer, its still idiot proof. If you're having Flash issues on an older Mac and still want to see all the goodies, I highly recommend 9.0.246.0 (Version 10.0.32.18)

SNOWWHITESICKETTE That is very good advice. I recommend using the older Flash and disabling the Hardware Acceleration setting permanently. (Located in the Flash Player settings- accessible by right directly in the box of the offending Flash content. I've got several older Macs and this helped each of them immensely. I've read complaints by Mac users with new Macs that Flash causes problems for them as well. Playback issues, beach balls, and the internal fan runs full blast. I wonder if Hardware Acceleration is causing some of their problems too... (Version 10.0.32.18)

SNOWWHITESICKETTE My review is biased, because I hate Flash. It's been so many years, I've actually forgotten if Flash ever worked normally on one of my Macs. I think it did almost a decade ago. Flash makes the internet very unpleasant for Mac users. I wish it would fade away for good. Adobe Flash saves a file of cookies in the user library that are not deleted the usual way. There is no preference panel to access Flash, unless you go to the Adobe website. I think it's very rude of them to save unwanted debris on my hard drive. I found a bunch of remnants from websites I hadn't visited in a year. No thank you. And Flash allows websites to interact with those cookies, and even access your built-in camera and microphone. I don't know about you folks, but when I want to share my live video and audio, I use iChat or some other program. Not my web browser. (There may be a useful aspect to this, but to me it's just another potential security hole.) Dear Flash, I loathe you. You are a buggy, flawed, stuttering, choppy mess of a plug-in. You are the only thing that ruins the otherwise perfect enjoyment of my Macs. And you are everywhere. I hope to see the day when you are nothing but a distant bad memory. Sincerely, SWS (Version 10.0.32.18)

SPRINGHEELMAC Try the last version 9 with an installer; 9.0.124. I've found that to be pretty good. (Version 10.0.32.18)

OLLIEH82 Flash player 10 is awful on my mac. Always choppy and slow and out of sync. Watching the latest videos from the Nostalgia critic are a prime example of how slow version 10 is for the mac. Im running OSX 10.4.11 on my G4, what is the best version of flash player available from the previous versions that would best suit my mac?.. I did down grade to 9.159 but that is still choppy. I N Flash player 10 will render your G4 nearly useless as an internet browser. It is a regrettable and poorly coded program, as many reviews here will attest. Use 9.0.0.159 It seems that someone at Adobe decided it was not worth the "cost" to release proper PPC code for such a widely used and nearly indispensable application. I similarly have decided that my former goodwill towards this company is more cost than it's worth. F*&^% them! (Version 10.0.22.87)
