KATUZERO Problem: No flash player function, and I can't seem to get any results from using the flash player "Global Storage Settings panel" I have been to the Flash player "Global Storage Settings panel" and tried to increase disk space allowed, and also tried unsuccessfully to ¡Ô check the checkbox called "allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer". It is not allowing a check to be put in any boxes. I have tried several browsers. . I can not ckeck boxes in Safari, or Firefox, or Camino either. Last, I uninstaller it, repair permissions, then restart. reinstalling it, But not working. What to do? Thanks. (Version 10.1.53.64)

PUMILAMAC KATUZERO, this update 10.1.53.64 hosed Flash on an iMac and Mac Pro both running OS 10.5.8 and Safari 5.0. When I go to Flash sites I can usually hear the audio but don't see anything where the Flash should be. I tried re-downloading, and un-installing and re-installing, usual maintenance procedures to no avail. I rolled back to my last version and it's working again. I hope they get fix it because there have been a lot of security fixes in the 10.1 series. (Version 10.1.53.64)

AGMASTER I'm afraid you are wrong. I have played many youtube videos in full screen and I have never had Safari crash. Matter of fact, flash has never caused Safari to crash on my mbp. (Version 10.1.53.64)

MACLOVER1.1 It's not because something crashes on one's computer that it crashes on all computers lol Er "my car has a flat tire so does yours"... NOPE ! The world does not work that way. (Version 10.1.53.64)

SWORDFISH AGMASTER, you must have a 64 bit system, so flash crashes without bringin down Safari with it. Unfortunately, I'm on a 32 bit system, so everytime flash crashes, Safari crashes. MACLOVER1.1, I never said it crashes all computers, but on the other hand I didn't clearly state it only crashed mine either. The main point is: BEWARE. I'm glad it's not happening to other people, because it's an enraging problem. (Version 10.1.53.64)

M85 Crashing Safari and Camino for me, every single time. I've tried re-dl'ing from Adobe's website and still no luck (Version 10.1.53.64)

MACLOVER1.1 Most crashes I've experienced on Mac over 20 years had something to do with things like: /Library/ScriptingAdditions/blablabla.osax or SIMBL or once upon a time when I used them, Unsanity add-ons.. I'd aways look in this direction before thinking of the Flash Player... which has never caused me any harm.. not to say it cannot, but scripting additions were pretty much always the source of my problems in the past... Just a hint... (Version 10.1.53.64)

JOHN SAWYER CJS Does anyone know if Adobe has released any versions of Flash Player for Mac (PPC or Intel) versions of Linux? I know Adobe was working on this some time in 2008, but as far as I can tell, they never released it. They do release versions of Flash for PC versions of Linux. (Version 10.1.53.64)

NEGRITUDE Check the repository of your Linux version to see if it's available. Are you sure that none of the downloadable versions work? Have you actually tried them, or are you just assuming it won't work? http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ (Version 10.1.53.64)

ROGER KATZ Despite MacUpdate's info -Adobe Flash Player 10.1.53.64 is NOT supported by Leopard. It requires Snow Leopard. (Version 10.1.53.64)

ROGER KATZ Problem solved - despite the problem that the FIRST time I downloaded Adobe Flash Player Installer 10.1.53.64 - so I downloaded it a second time. The first time I installed it the Installer had Alerted me that it was not compatible with my MacOS (i.e., 10.5.8) - and it showed the icon that it would not install with Leopard. I tried again, and downloaded it from Adobe's download site's submenu for compatibility with "MacOS 10.4 to 10.6", and it installed fine. (Version 10.1.53.64)

KILLSAPO is it possible to install flash player on a per browser basis? i.e. installed on camino but not safari? if not, let's try out and find a hack ;) (Version 10.1.53.64)

NEGRITUDE There's no need for a hack. Flash can be disabled in any browser: 1. In Firefox, you can disable the Flash plugin itself, while leaving other plugins operational. 2. In Safari, you can install ClickToFlash to block all Flash content. 3. Camino has a built-in configuration setting to "Block Flash Animations". 4. Opera has the ability to "Block Content" on a web site. Just about all modern browsers have some kind of similar functionality, so the point is, if you don't want to allow Flash in a specific browser, you don't have to. (Version 10.1.53.64)

ILGAZ I really think Apple should pack this 10.1 final as a security update on software update system. Of course, they should clearly state that it is Flash player security update or trolls will abuse it as usual. With their weird install system (now even worse) and bad press and the mistake of messing with SJobs, I don't think that 100% of users will update to plug the security hole which is said to be very serious one. That would also mute some people thinking Adobe and Apple are in "war" or something which damages both companies in long term. Apple did a similar thing very recently so, it is not something very rare. As I said, they should clearly name it "Adobe Flash player security update". Of course, if Adobe idiots didn't give up OS X native .pkg installer, it would be easier for Apple to implement it. (Version 10.1.53.64)

NEGRITUDE Apple always includes Flash as part of it's security updates whenever appropriate. They are not going to create a special update just for Flash, as that would be ridiculous, but they will include the latest Flash the next time they release an overall system security update. KILLSAPO @negritude of course i knew clicktoflash and i used it up to yesterday (when i uninstalled flash... tryin to live without it) but it only prevents flash content to be displayed: flash plugin it's still loaded and eating memory, as far as activity monitor tells me... ACWOLF I tried installing and it always goes smooth until 95% and then nothing happens, it'll just sit like that forever. I had to uninstall and then I lost Flash entirely. I was able to get it working again by using Time Machine to go back to the older version. Everything else on my computer is fine. And I checked permissions. I even tried with no programs running, with a safe-boot, with uninstalling then restarting before installing again... Any suggestions? (Version 10.1.53.64)

MACUPDATE TREVOR Mine stalled at 95% for a good 2 minutes, then finished. It looked like it was going to hang there indefinitely, but it eventually moved then was done. Be patient when you try it again. (Version 10.1.53.64)

ACWOLF I waited hours... just sitting at 95%. (Version 10.1.53.64)

ACWOLF no luck yet, I tried a few more times a bit ago and gave up. (Version 10.1.53.64)

ACWOLF I got it to install! What I did was open the package contents and find the real Mac installer package and run in myself instead of running adobe's install app. (Version 10.1.53.64)

TOTTYTB Same here! You beat me to it! Not sure why you have to do that though!! (Version 10.1.53.64)

LJMAC Good news: unlike the release candidates, this version no longer sends my fans into overdrive. However, given Kawaii's comment below, this may be related to the fact that I upgraded to Safari 5 just before installing Flash 10.1. The plug-in appears to have the correct permissions now too. Bad news: this version was clearly released as a fix for the recent critical security hole in 10.0 - Adobe still hasn't go the hardware acceleration working stably on a Mac. And the uninstaller still installs with the wrong permissions. (Version 10.1.53.64)
