UMIJIN  This is a very popular and powerful media organizer for Windows and this is the first Mac version. It's worth giving it a try, though expensive.

The developer also produced an excellent Mac graphics app (Canvas) which combined bitmap and drawing. Unfortunately, this developer bailed on Canvas for Mac a few years ago to focus solely on Windows apps. One would hope they won't do the same for ACDSee Pro.

TRANCE  is the price a misprint? ....i find that hard to believe they would ask for $169 for this app.

I tried the last version and it was obvious it was written by windows developers. At the moment it's rubbish, it might improve .....but i would not even pay $20 for it, there are much better alternatives at the moment

TOFI  I wouldn't use this crap not even for free.

ACD is the one that abandoned the mac when they dropped the development of the wonderful Canvas for the mac.

The interface of that ACDsee Pro has nothing to do with Mac.

MARK  The Windows version is great, but this seems like a perfunctory attempt at a mac port. A Classic installer?? It's pretty slow, it's pretty ugly, it's grossly overpriced.

If you're looking for an image viewer/browser, don't bother with anything but ViewIt.

ERIK V.  Well I've tried acdsee because I use Windows version. It seems stable so far, but it is slow. Slower than Graphic Converter. I too own a G3 900 MHz and several G4 dual. It is impossible to work with 200 / 300 pictures or more, it takes ages to display thumbnails. I can't imagine the hassle with 1000 pics. Nice try but it is unusable.

RUD-GR  Way too many bugs in this one. Be very careful because it can screw up your images after rotating. Pity, because the pc-version is killer!

RAN  I don't understand these bad comments. ACD See is the best viewer on Windows, that's a fact. The OS X version is great too. I use ACD See 1.6.5 with OS 10.2.6 (iBook 900 / 256 Mo), it is fast. Maybe you have a slower computer, but on a new model ACD See performs very well.

The only problem is that the installer needs to launch Classic... to install OS X version! Anyway, once you have the app on your drive, you can copy the folder to reinstall it later, so it is a minor fault.

The GUI is not as nice as iPhoto's, not a true Aqua style, but it is efficient when you work with 100, 1000 or 4000 pictures. IMO this browser is the best to display and sort pictures, with Canon Image Browser. Faster than Graphic Converter (which is better to edit and modify files).

I like the way ACD See manages thumbnails: cache files are stored in a separate folder, they are not added to the image as a resource.

I've worked with 4000-5000 files, stable so far.

There are a lot of bad ... especially games,

If you have one app to buy, go for Graphic Converter. But if you need more tools, try ACD See, I am sure you will like it too.
