ALASKANASSASSIN  Just a tip from a person coming from pcand now owns a mac... if you want to make macamp as good as winamp... you need to add the additional features of for example winamp 5. I really miss how I was able to view video, get radio, rip cds, and was also able to queue multiple songs at one time... there were also a multitude of plugins and skins that were available and it was all free!

I don't see how this program was supposed to compete with itunes... they do totally separate things... other than play mp3s. As I stated above I believe this is better suited as a mac version of winamp... it just needs to have the same effort into making it better.

Since its just a start of a great product I can't give it a higher ranking.  (Version 2.0.1)

WHORE-SHAQ  Has anyone noticed that it RECORDS!?! Fine if you don't want to listen to some schmuck in Seattle; however, how about if you're tired of sites streaming you a great MP3, but you need to connect to them each time you want to listen to it? I download a bunch of streams to iTunes, listen to them, and the ones I like, copy the URL, open MacAmp, and record. Presto! Then I due whatever with the track (but continue to use iTunes for playback).

So yes, as a jukebox, it really has little to offer over iTunes (tracks sound worse on MacAmp) or Musicmatch. It stands alone though for keeping ahold of those MP3's. They say you can only record for 3 minutes per track when you get the Free download, but I record as long as I want (maybe they screwed up, but I wouldn't sweat $10 even if not). There's even a plugin to let you record while streaming through RealPlayer (which I hardly ever use anyway -- somewhat hostile advertising and self-serving overall; touch it anywhere with your cursor and you connect to a "Real" website).

I have an imac G3/ 500 SE, and a cable link. The latter obviously would make a big speed difference, BUT I've recorded several streams (all 128 kbs) that have stalled and stuttered all the way through. When the track is done, I move this newly created MP3, and it's smooth as silk.   (Version 2.0.1)

PERSHA  I just got it, it was so fast and easy to use. I was looking for something that would allow me to listen to the radio on my mac for a long time. I haven't even had it for longer than 5 minutes and I love the macamp already!  (Version )
