WHORE-SHAQ Has anyone noticed that it RECORDS!?! Fine if you don't want to listen to some schmuck in Seattle; however, how about if you're tired of sites streaming you a great MP3, but you need to connect to them each time you want to listen to it? I download a bunch of streams to iTunes, listen to them, and the ones I like, copy the URL, open MacAmp, and record. Presto! Then I due whatever with the track (but continue to use iTunes for playback). So yes, as a jukebox, it really has little to offer over iTunes (tracks sound worse on MacAmp) or Musicmatch. It stands alone though for keeping ahold of those MP3's. They say you can only record for 3 minutes per track when you get the Free download, but I record as long as I want (maybe they screwed up, but I wouldn't sweat $10 even if not). There's even a plugin to let you record while streaming through RealPlayer (which I hardly ever use anyway -- somewhat hostile advertising and self-serving overall; touch it anywhere with your cursor and you connect to a "Real" website). I have an imac G3/ 500 SE, and a cable link. The latter obviously would make a big speed difference, BUT I've recorded several streams (all 128 kbs) that have stalled and stuttered all the way through. When the track is done, I move this newly created MP3, and it's smooth as silk. (Version 2.0.1) |
