ANONYMOUS  Finally an update for one of the most useful programs on OS 9! While waiting for this I bought Stickybrain and DevonThink in the hopes they could fill EZNotes place but, though both are very useful apps, neither did. Why? Simple: EZNote stores the notes in individual files rather than relying on a database, so there's no fear of database corruption and it's easy to sync across multiple computers.

GREGORY  This app is unique (at least since Skin Hunt Notes is no longer being developed) in the way it is integrated with the Finder. Add files to the EZNote document folder and they appear in EzNote. Easy to backup and never a question about import and export of compatible files.

LEX LUTHOR  I have mixed givings about this company as I had purchased ScrapIt Pro X and have not seen an update in a while, so I was disappointed to see a carbon $25 EZNote X make it's appearance as Daveware is offering iSnip for free and is cocoa:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/170451

From iSnip to Stickybrain - all offer interesting ways of organizing text and the clipboard so why does the developer of ScrapIt Pro have to release a 'simple' new app OSX version of an old app of his when ScrapIt is already cocoa and could do it all anyway or if not be enhanced/developed to encompass this new apps toolset ?

JOHN V. HOLDER  Lex, I do thank you for your comments about EZNote X (and ScrapIt Pro X) but want to clear a couple of things up. First, EZNote X was written from the ground up in Cocoa, using Apple's Xcode. Second, the reason you haven't seen many ScrapIt Pro X updates is because I've had to focus on EZNote X as I've had so many people asking for an OSX version for a long time...

Anyway, now that I've finally released v1.0, I can work on the next update for ScrapIt Pro X.

LEX LUTHOR  I also thank you for your comments, but you haven't answered my question - why aren't ScrapIt Pro X and EZNote X amalgamated into one application as both store text clippings and cost the same price?

...and that isnip does everything so well and simply - even having a menubar input menu makes it so well thought out and well designed. ScrapIt Pro X is the more unique app and it's a pity it is not more 'cocoa' in it's styling.

On your web site you mention ScrapIt Pro X is cocoa but not EZNote X. When I tested EZnote X, I noticed that it is not made in the familiar (i app) style - no custom toolbar or side opening windows etc... and this is always disappointing. It looks and feels like a carbon app or even a classic OS7/8/9 app.

JOHN V. HOLDER  Lex,

1) ScrapIt Pro X (SIPX) and EZNote X (EZNX) handle different data and store data in completely different ways (SIPX stores all items in one file, EZNX stored each item as a file on your hard drive).

EZNote X focuses entirely on text, whereas ScrapIt Pro X will allow you to copy and paste most anything (text, images, sounds, movies, etc.). I have had Classic versions of both applications out as shareware for many years. Depending on what a person needs, they will choose one or the other (and yet I certainly have many users registered for both).

2) Thanks for letting me know about the missing Cocoa text on my web page, it's been fixed.

3) I'm really not sure what you mean about EZNote X lacking in the familiar (i app) style, it does have a customizable tool bar, and uses a "Drawer" window (if that's what you mean by "side opening windows") for Get Info.

I really do appreciate hearing comments and questions, it helps me build better applications based on what your needs are.

If you have any further comments/questions, please email me, I'm glad to answer them as I can.

Thank you,

-John
