AN.ONYMOUS  ArtMatic is a unique software. It enables endless voyages through never explored regions of an endless universe of visual creation.

It is constantly improved, with new features added.

At first, the results may be disappointing; but, sooner or later depending on luck, one finds places where to settle down and start exploring from.

Beautiful films can also be created very easily.

The support is incredibly quick and efficient (including during the week-ends)

Two things could be improved :

- although there are many ways to change the colors and edit large ranges of tones, hues and values, there are still mathematical constraints that won't let you do exactly what you would with a graphic software (eg have different colours for different zones that correspond to the same mathematical definition). Perhaps, an additional paint-tool could be associated to AM to overcome this limitation without interrupting the exploration.

- When exploring, AM allows memorizing some positions for later exploration or for including them as key frames of a movie. Unfortunately, their number is quite limited and their chronologic order cannot be changed.

One thing is desperate : sound !

Across 10 years using AM, I could never approach anything melodious or even harmonious. The techno sounds AM generates are just more or less absurd noises (as well illustrated with the examples in AM's site). Clearly the ear is much less tolerant that the eye.

BOBLOG  Hello Folks,

Artmatic is one of the best application for graphical manipulation and also to discover other way to manipulate images and fractals, and other goodies.

This software is powerful, creative, and incredibly smart in the way that you can build your own trees and components to have your own set up, and functions.

The results for gradients are stunning, and I never seen any software of this kind.

With Artmatic you will need to go deeper, but its a wonderful journey with thousand of new way to think..... it depends on you....

Just try the demo, and the samples... if you are a real designer you need this app....

MAC66GRAPHICS  I was pleased to see that U&I software, makers of Art Matic pro are offering an upgrade at $69 instead of $249. I immediately snapped up this offer, and am pleased with what is being offered in this upgrade from 4.0. Thanks and keep up the good work.

$249 is to steep for me, to start "again". I can get a Photoshop CS4 upgrade for $189. That is a powerhouse as compared to this basically one trick pony with awesome variations.

PLASTERPYRUS  Let me start of by saying that ArtMatic is really great little application, it's creative, fun, artistic and it can even give to the nerdiness in all of us. The other thing is thats expensive and after all it is only a fractal application, a very good one though but still a fractal application. It has a very steep learning curve though and in the past the documentation it has had, has been quite limiting, making it very challenging. In the past years there has been established a users group that has a very creative people in it, and sometimes you get access to some tutorials from there. The only problem there is that it is based on getting a bunch of emails that for the majority aren't that interesting and also the discussions cover the companies other applications as well so you do get inundated with emails. I myself would feel it would be a big improvement if they went to the web based forum instead. I also wish they would make upgrades to their application a bit more often to fix issues that arise or just to make minor improvements. Rather than coming out with an upgrade every year and a half and charging an upgrade fee for it. It use to be that that is how they started out doing it in their early years, which now they seem to be asking for upgrade fee from 4.1 to 4.6 with no other versions in between.
