When I take an avi & ask it to convert avi to dvd or burn to dvd, create a ts folder etc etc

It only creates an mpg file on every occasion.

Still using my paid for version of visual hub as this function works very well.

ANDY RICHARDS  When I saw this I thought, "Wow finally I get an updated version of VisualHub", and it works almost as well as VisualHub. It's still a bit buggy, I have had a few problems with it but it's well on its way to being a VisualHub replacement.

ROSENKRIEGER  I thought. Wow finally I get an updated version of "VisualHub", but hell now. The "converting" plain s*cks. Used a MOV File and wanted a MP4 - yeah I got an MP4, but out of 3:28 Minutes a 0:58 Minutes file was the result - WTF?!??

I then did the same conversion with VisualHub - smooth as silk.

Yeah its free - but if it doesn't work - why use it?!?

ALEXANDER  VisualHub you say? It got my attention and could not wait to give it a try.

Bummer ... I do not want to go into details here but this is just plain not usable in ANY way.

It gave me more errors then any other program I tried ever on my iMac with OSX10.6.1 installed.

Almost nothing worked like it was working with VHUB.

If the developer is using the old source he surely totally messed it up in a bad manner.

This is a joke right?

Come on, this tool doesn't even comes close to "becoming" a converter.

It is bad - unbelievable B A D.

Handbrake is also free AND it works. Period

BONYFACE  I get an error message while quitting : "AppleScript Error System Events got an error: Illegal comparison or logical. (-1726)".

I just opened the app, check the supported formats and browse the Advanced Panel. Nothing more...

ROBOTANK  I've been having quite a bit of trouble with ReduxEncoder. At first I was experiencing the error noted below on Leopard ("illegal comparison or logical"). Now on Snow Leopard (10.6.1), the old problem is gone away, but new issues have popped up. First I tried converting an XviD AVI file to DVD. The conversion to the MPG file went fine, but it would not proceed past that point to authoring the DVD structure. Whether I selected burnable image, VIDEO_TS folder, or burned DVD, after the conversion was done, "Authoring DVD" (or something like that) would pop up for a about a second above the progress bar, then it would claim the process was finished, leaving only the MPG file. Next I tried converting an H.264 MP4 file. With MEncoder decoding, it ran for about 5 minutes, then claimed it was finished. The result was a 400 MB partial MPG file. Trying the same conversion with VLC decoding never got past the "Starting conversion" phase. I know that ReduxEncoder is a work in progress, but I do hope that it reaches a fairly stable and usable state in the near future. It looks promising in many respects and is free, so I'm optimistic that it will turn out to be a worthy successor to the venerable VisualHub.

LEMMING  How does this compare to VisualHub? Does it have more features? Does it create better quality files at the same or smaller size? Is it faster?

STEFAN-EASELNET  Hi Trance,

sorry to hear your still having trouble, I've had 3 other reports of it so something strange is going on... Could you tell me -

1. does it occur when you try to convert to a specific format and if so what one

2. does your system use a period or a comma when formatting numbers

Thanks

STEFAN-EASELNET  Hi WDSRK

Thanks for that info, well that would suggest that the error is not in one of the format scripts, but must be in either the main or the nib, i'll need to do a comparison of them both with the previous version and see where the problem is.

It is only happening on 10.5, or does anyone with 10.6 have the prob ?
