EODTECH Very useful piece of software. I am always searching for text files , pictures and PDF documents on my hard drives and Spotlight is not the perfect solution. With the selection of what type items to search for DataLore is super fast in it's searches and showing the path to the item at the bottom of the application ( tp include external drives which you can add or remove from the menu)is a nice feature with the ability to open the item with a right click saves time. Very stable and worth a look, you will be throwing rocks at Spotlight after using DataLore. (Version 1.02)

XTRALEAN Please note: 1.01 is a beta build - adding QuickLook as a feature to DataLore. Final release of DataLore with QuickLook should be available shortly. Somehow, this build got posted here at MacUpdate - I didn't put it up :) Anyways, have fun, QuickLook was the number 1 feature request since the 1.0 release and we should have it perfected in a day or two. And as usual, if there's a bug, it's because it's beta - please report bugs to support.xtralean.com XtraLean Software (Version 1.01)

DRDUL This is a very promising app. It needs only three more features: Quicklook (with a spacebar hotkey as in the Finder) Direct access from within DataLore to the Finder's Get Info panel The ability to save search expressions and easily access them (ideally from a dropdown menu in the toolbar) (Version 1.0)

XTRALEAN I would like to thank everyone for trying the Beta of DataLore. We should have a final release (version 1.0) out soon. Just putting the final touches on the product and a couple of minor bug fixes. I've posted a 3 minute demo of DataLore, for those wanting to take a look at what DataLore can do. You can view it here - XtraLean Software. (Version 0.99B)

EVILSKULL I would love to test this out, but I tend not to use any basic apps that requires an installer .pkg; if you're not installing frameworks, kernel modules, or support files, I don't see the point in distributing the software as a .pkg. (Version 0.99B)

We decided to use the package installer to make installing the product more convenient and easier. The pkg installer will automatically quit DataLore and the menu bar app (for example if you are updating the product) and copy the DataLore application to the Applications folder. Quick and easy and there is no need to eject the dmg. For the final release we'll provide an alternate download for people that like to do this type of stuff manually by hand. RUBAIYAT Yes please do not use the package method, it can be confusing to less experienced users. As an admin with several computers to maintain I prefer to DL once and hold for reinstallation across the network. For this I am glad, for once, that you have both the application and version number clearly in the name. (Version 1.02)

PAULSRANDALL This is just ultimate when it comes to speed, even on a slow computer. It beats Apple's offering hands down. (Version 0.93b)

NICKSLOAN Even in beta this is proving to be an extremely efficient app that serves well for the bulk of straightforward searches, both filename and content. One or two features still need to be refined or added: easier addition/removal of source folders, the path trail in the footer should be clickable, and the addition of previews to the info pane would be nice, but it already performs searches very quickly and reliably. For more sophisticated metadata searches, HoudahSpot offers more, and since DataLore is reliant on the Spotlight database, there is still a need for apps like the excellent Find File and Find Any File for fully exhaustive filename searches, but for most day-to-day searches DataLore looks like becoming the benchmark for a balance of simplicity, speed and flexibility.
