JASONH1234  I prefer BatCHMOD which does the same thing but also includes a browse button instead of having to drag a file or folder onto the app's window.

SESQUIPEDALIAN  Disk Utility only fixes permission problems on files installed as part of the operating system. It doesn't do anything with user files.

It looks like Permission Reset gives you easy GUI control to work with permissions on your own files.

GCOGHILL  Indeed it does work on files & folders, which is nice because I was finally able to get some files in my trash to delete, as they have been stuck in there for some time. Excellent!

I was also confused about how this software differed from Disk Utility, thanks for the explanation.
