DA-LA  For what it does, this app is awesome! There, I said it. :-)

When I first started Brush Pilot it automatically found all my brushes across two separate drives. This might not be surprising but what did surprise me is how fast it did it.

It is extremely fast, at least in demo mode where it will only display 5 brushes. Personally I would instead prefer a fully functional but time limited demo in order to see how it handles larger brush libraries. However, it still seems to load the entire brush library even though it only will display 5 brushes.

Brush Pilot is a bit light on the feature side of things but we're only at 1.0.x so I'm sure features will be added as time passes.

Some things I would like to see:

* Show brush size - Handy to know if a brush is 345 px or if it is 2178 px.

* Optional column view in the left sidebar - I use subfolders in my main brush folder and it would make it easier to switch between brush libraries if I could use column view.

* Bookmarks/Favorites - Would be nice if it was possible to bookmark a brush library. Quite handy if you have many libraries. It Would really ROCK if it was possible to bookmark individual brushes within a library.

* Taging - The ability to add tags to libraries or even to individual brushes within a gallery.

* Search - A must if you have loooooads of brushes ;-)

What would make me a truly happy camper is if Brush Pilot eventually went from just a brush viewer to a brush viewer/organizer/editor. I have wished for quite some time for better and more powerful brush editing tools. Not making actual brushes mind you but instead creating and editing brush libraries.

I find the Present Manager in Photoshop to be very basic as well as "clunky". It misses features like variable preview size (Brush Pilot already has this), sorting (name/tag/size/age etc.), drag/drop support.

I realize however that this might be outside the scope of Brush Pilot but a boy can always dream, can't he? ;-)

However, Brush Pilot is a more elegant solution and well-worth the $15.00, imo because it even works on OSX 10.4 Tiger. This app is not only helpful for Photoshop users, but I find it absolutely necessary when running Pixelmator too, because Pixelmator's own brush management is horrendous. Photoshop's brush management is laggy and slows down the app after extended use and Pixelmator's is nonexistent. Brush Pilot to the rescue!

Brush Pilot is also very speedy, even across networked and external drives.

ITTY  Wow, they work fast. v. 1.02 is running great. Paid my $15, got the key in less than 3 minutes.

Great little app and sooo much better than running a Java app.

their website says it all. Simple and easy to use. Should be in every Photoshop Pro's toolkit.

If they add full brush preview export, then there will be no need for ABRView anymore. [not that I'm complaining about a free app but Java is clunky].

If you use a lot of different Photoshop brushes in your workflow, then Brush Pilot is a necessity.

ITTY  Installed on a MacBook running 10.5.7 and could not successfully launch the app. Unexpected Quit after a few bounces. So no rating yet.

There's a freebie java app; ABR-VIEWER, that works, albeit a little clunky, creating thumbnails and previews at user-choose-able sizes. I use Expression Media[iView] to catalog the full screen size previews.

I'll be glad to take another look at Brush Pilot when it's compatible with Leopard.

I hope Brush Pilot will be fixed because ABR viewer requires JAVA and is a little funky to work with. A bona-fide Mac app will be most welcome. Even at $15.

HANNAL  I emailed the developer, Jay, about my disappointment that Brush Pilot does not have a print function. Since it has a print choice in the menu I thought it had a print function, even though the button is disabled. I emailed him because I thought I just couldn't figure out how to enable the print choice. When he emailed me back that there was no print function in version 1, I told him that I would not have bought it if I had known that and I requested that he add that information to his website so potential future customers could be more aware. In response, he sent me a very nice email apologizing for the confusion and he refunded my money - which I had not requested. I thought his response was really above and beyond what I expected and what he needed to do in the situation. I was really surprised and quite pleased and wanted you all to know how he supports his customer base.

HANNAL  I also found that Brush Pilot quickly, effortlessly and completely identified all of my brushes and flawlessly displays them. My big disappointment: no print function. I really really wanted a printed catalog of my brushes and I was not aware that Brush Pilot does not print. The developer says it is on the list for version 2. I will use a screen capture program to print my brushes, but it will be more clunky than if they printed from within the program. There is no information on the brush pilot website about printing or the lack of. As a brush viewer, it excels.

ITTY  V 1.03 works flawlessly.

They responded to my bug reports on v.1.01 almost instantly. Found the problems and fixed them. Then issued an update within hours. (v.1.02 Great support.

Well worth the $15, and a must have for any Photoshop user.
