DESCRIPTION
Subler is an app created to mux mp4 files. The main features are:
  • Creation of tx3g subtitles tracks, compatible with all Apple's devices (iPod, AppleTV, iPhone, QuickTime).
  • Mux video, audio, chapters, subtitles and closed captions tracks from mov and mp4.
  • Raw formats: H.264 Elementary streams (.h264, .264), AAC (.aac), AC3 (.ac3), Scenarist (.scc)
  • iTunes metadata editing.

NED SCOTT  softsubs on my ipod touch? yes please. This also cuts down on the conversion time for video since I don't have to burn the subs into the video track via QT and Perian (Perian allows QT to see subs, then QT does the actual conversion. QT is very slow at MP4/h.264 encoding). Now I just use iSquint or HandBreak then Subler to mux the srt file.

Looking for a Mac converter for .a s s (macupdate word filter won't let me say the file extension without spaces) to .srt, however. Please reply if you know of one.

RITSUKA  Normally I use Jubler to convert between subtitles format.

JOSHMUNKEY  there's also an online converter that i have been using for a while now

it'll remove all the {*} tags and everything associated with advanced substation alpha, which i really like. sorry for the late response, just thought it was worth noting.

SILVERDR  This app is a brilliant example of good OSS. Need to add soft subtitles? Here you go. Need to remove unwanted audio tracks, which you never use for anything except eating up storage space? Here you go. Want to cut or change the chapters? Yes, you guessed it! The user interface is pretty basic but functional and uncluttered. Kudos to the creators.
