LVWOLFMAN First a note to all: Hulu.com is constrained by licenses with programming providers. Just as DVD movies are "Region" coded to protect distribution licenses, streaming video providers are also generally limited in distribution. What this means is that just as we in the United States aren't allowed to stream BBC TV's simulcast of BBC One, Those in most of the world (I'm not sure about Canada) are not allowed to stream video from Hulu.com. This would of course, apply to any desktop application released by Hulu. So sorry Charlie, as you found out, the Hulu Desktop Apps are NOT workarounds to let you watch Hulu distributed videos in other countries. Now... as the app goes, I'm running a late 2007 17" Mac Book Pro. On my 12mbps Cable modem, with my wife playing Second Life and streaming music, and me downloading from newsgroups on another machine at full speed and 20 connections, the high quality mode of the Hulu Desktop app was darn good. When I stopped the downloads it was fantastic! I tried it as well on my 12" 1.33 Ghz Powerbook G4. This app isn't supposed to work with it, but it did. On the low setting I could watch it in a pinch but the video stopped far too often. But it DID work! And yes, it works perfectly with my Apple Remote. (Version 0.9.4) |
