DESCRIPTION
Bevy... The application launcher with a 50,000 foot view. Bevy is a launcher that shows you all of your application icons in a single window that can be opened with a global hot key, from the menu bar or by clicking its dock icon. You just specify folders where your applications are located and Bevy creates visual groups of icons for each folder. To help you quickly find the application you're looking for, a key press will highlight applications with matching names or you can drag-and-drop a file to highlight compatible applications. How cool is that? In addition, you can hide rarely used apps and un-installers so they won't clutter your window. And Bevy is always up-to-date because it uses Spotlight to keep track of changes so you don't have to.

  • Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: Fixed "Spaces is enabled" dialog so that it no longer appears when Bevy is correctly assigned to "every space"

MACBIRD  I previously used a free app called ParaDocks. It stopped working on the newer OS's & I felt lost without it. I purchased this app which is similar in part (but does so much more) and tried it out. I love it!

OAK  Since my writing of the preceding comments, the developer has gone "above and beyond" in helping me resolve the difficulties that my iMac (Tiger 10.4.11) had in digesting this App. The alacrity with which he went to work on my problem was most gratifying. Bevy itself is phenomenal. Overall appearance and graphics make for eye-candy that looks good enough to eat. The workings are intuitive- It does not require a PhD to figure out how to use all the features. The user's guide and support leave no questions unanswered. It is very reasonably priced. This application is simply a pleasure to use.

Do yourself a favor- Take Bevy for a demo drive. I bet you will like it. In fact, have your credit card handy, because you will want to buy it as soon as you try it.

Based upon my latest experience I give Bevy five stars for the reasons stated. This is my honest opinion. Nobody asked, offered, or gave me anything to write it. I do not know the developer.

OAK  I have downloaded the Demo of this App. twice now, once from MU and once from Apple Downloads. Both times I get a brief view of some kind of 'blank' information sheet (too brief a view to really see); then a screenshot of Bevy, showing all my Apps. If I click on anything, it all disappears, and I am looking at my desktop. The designer's site has no contact info for asking questions, so I am taking this route... Since I cannot get Bevy to work as a Demo, if I pay for it up front, will it all work then; or will it be more of the same?

PATRICK SAVELBERG  Bevy is not shown until :

- you click its icon in the dock

- use the icon in the menubar

- once it shows all your app you have te option in the left uper corner under the gear icon.

OAK  Thanks, Mr. Savelberg, for your reply. However, I guess I was not clear enough in my earlier comment... The problem does not start until after I have downloaded the Bevy .zip, opened it,put the App in my Applications folder and the icon in the dock. When I then click on the dock icon, a white page appears for three seconds- it says,"Welcome to Bevy--- 1 of 9". Then it disappears and the Bevy screen appears (it really does look impressive); but as soon as I click on the gear icon, or the menu bar icon, or the screen image, everything literally disappears and I am looking at my desktop, no Bevy in sight. Also, something I noticed the last time I tried to open Bevy... The menu bar stays in Finder, so I cannot access Bevy System Preferences. All the preceding happens both with version 1.0.3 (from MacUpdate) and with version 1.0.1 (from Apple Downloads). I have never seen this behavior before, even with other Apps downloaded about the same time. I am driving an iMac, 10.4.11. Any ideas?

BROCK BRANDENBERG  Hi THEOAK. I'm sorry I don't frequent the comments often enough, so I missed your issue until now. I have not tested on Tiger 10.4, so you could be seeing something that I haven't encountered yet, but can fix. It sounds like Bevy is quitting for some unknown reason, so please email me at support at bergdesign dot com and I'll help you track down what's happening. Thanks, Brock Brandenberg

DOOBIEXX  Love it! if it could use a bit less system resources and development continues I think the app will have an extremely bright future. Many f10 studio users are going to love the grouping of apps as it has been taken out in their new UI.

Hope the dev's of bevy keep it up and stay in tune with their user's requests and preferences. A+ rarely do I buy an app on the spot....
