I've compiled the latest version of Evom 0.98 for PPC.

Thanks for the source & the tips! The compile tips are a little outdated but I've managed thanks to them!!! Could not do without them! That's a fact and for sure!!!

I used gcc 4.2 as compiler and I also used the option so the program should run on both a G4 and a G5 PPC using Altivec for speeding things up.

I have to say that the program runs very fast on my PowerMac G5. Realy realy fast!

Converting test-files to a folder, HTML5, YouTube, AppleTV, iPod & iTunes is working in all formats ;-) (preferred MP4 codec h264).

The most difficult thing I had to do was finding a workaround for the launch issue in 'Evom 0.98 PPC' ;). The program always download a Intel file from your site during launch. Replacing my PPC file. The simple solution, locking my PPC file solved it :-D. Since then everything works!

RANDYHARRIS  I've used EVOM many time now to convert a variety of source input files for use on my AppleTV.

It does a very stellar job of converting the video in my opinion, drop dead simple and it just works well. End of story. No settings to fuss with, just select AppleTV and press convert.

It is not a fast transcode compared to some other applications I use, but I will say that it gives a more reliable high quality transfer than the other applications so I won't complain about the slower speed - it seems to result in a more reliable transcode.

Audio conversion is where EVOM is lacking. Both Handbrake and the the now deprecated VisualHUB had the ability to retain Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track by doing either a 5.1 only, or a 2.0+5.1 audio tracks in the AppleTV files. If EVOM adds this ability to do 2.0+5.1 it will become my sole application for converting video for the AppleTV.

Fantastic app that is lacking just one main feature (5.1+2.0). Ideally I would love to be able to bypass the internal metatagging and have it be able to pass the file on to a tagger of your choice, in my case it's iDentify.

BIKEHAM  AppleTV setting doesn't work for me. I use iTunes instead, seems to work ok. I upgraded from earlier versions and something went amiss along the way?

FORMICA  This is a MUCH better version (compared to my attempt with v. 0.94b, listed below). Conversion of Underworld - Rise of the Lycans (720p. .mkv) this time was far, far better, though it took nearly 3 hours. The audio is as good as the conversion I made with MPEG Streamclip, and the video was very good too, though somewhat brighter and with a small amount of attendant pixelation in the bright areas. Impressively, the Evom 0.95b conversion came in at only 1.91 GB, compared to the MPEG Streamclip conversion at 3.98 GB from the 4.37 GB original. Making very good progress, and with seemingly appropriate settings for the m4p converter. The developer said s/he would fix the audio problem, and by golly s/he did! Kudos.

BIKEHAM  I am having a problem with 0.95b. It keeps downloading new video components every time I initialise it. I've tried deleting and re-installing, deleting the plist files but still I am thwarted by this cantankerous problem.

D-ROCK!  Great smooth little app. I haven't tested it extensively, but as far as I can tell, it does what it's supposed to. However, I would like a little leniency as far as final file formats go. I realize this is still in beta, but could you consider putting in an .m4v option in there?

STANLEY MARCHAL  User it for some iPod conversions. Although they work the quality is not on par with other converters. Sometimes the result is messy and blocks popping up everywhere.

A lot of work is still needed to make this converter useable.

Too simple for me. Too few options. Too preliminary.
