TOMMIDDLETON  I like this converter. Many codecs and options - actually I never saw so many options in any converter I used.

Preset for iPod and iPhone works perfect. I cannot test the other presets (PS3, X360, Wii, ...) but if they are on par with the iPod and iPhone presets it should be good.

The preview functionality is awesome ! Incredible handy for cropping.

Pity isn't free like Handbrake. But iVideoConverter is by far the best converter for OS X.

And as a bonus it is running fine on my OS X 10.6 setup. (.. don't ask ;-)

JORIS VERVUURT  This simply is the best replacement for Visual Hub and also the best video converter available for the Mac!

After using it for a while, I have concluded that iVideoConverter is stable, user-friendly and it works without any hassle.

I'd say, check it out right now!

APPLEJACK78  The3th program I found with the 'other people suggest' link. btw a nice feature of Macupdate !

- Very nice and easy to use interface. Best of the three I tested.

- Enormous amount of options to dig in. No documentation though and only some help tags.

- PSP presets actually works for my PSP3000. Great!

- Default settings gave good to very good quality.

- 2 pass encoding works like it should.

- Very good preview feature. Not seen in other converters. It actually shows the end result.

The only issue I got with ivideo converter : it has no stitching option.

For me this is clearly the best of the three I tested. The interface is really fantastic. The results are very good.

If you need a free converter you certainly need Handbrake. But if you want just that bit more ivideo converter for 7eur is a steal!

PETER_EARTHMAN  Funny. I was looking for a audio converter to convert FLAC files. First downloaded MacFLAC but that only gave a bunch op Applescript errors.

ALL2MP3 works but only to MP3.

By accident I discover this video converter. But it actually has audio converting possibilities I did not see in other audio converters.

You can convert nearly every audio format to another audio format.

No advanced Metadata support though.

Maybe the programmer should rename this to iMedia Converter :-)

Great tool and highly recommended for video AND audio converting.

BUMBLEBEES  Last week I finally did buy a iMac 24.

I use it mainly for video editing. For Windows I had a lot of handy stuff for converting videos and was a bit afraid I could not find a decent for my iMac.

I have downloaded many converters but none came any close to what I wanted.

Some pointed me to try iVideoconverter because it suppose to be very good.

And I totally agree ! With out a doubt the best converter for iMac.

My first program I payed for. 8)

Kudos to the programmer

Keep up the very good work

MICHELS  I was searching for a iPhone converter and didn't found what I needed until I tried this.

First impression was good and I liked the interface immediately. Easy to use and nice looking.

Has lots of options and convert possibilities. For a beta this is just amazing to say the least ! !

I have converted all my movies for iPhone without any hassle and that's exactly what I needed.

Big thumbs up for this.

To developer : The beta seems to end working at 6/30/2009. What's next?

VISOR  So - VisualHub went bye-bye (sadly and just after I'd purchased a licence) and I've been looking for a suitable replacement ever since.

I bumped into iVideo Converter today (I'm glad that MacUpdate users suggest other apps!) and after trialling it for 10 minutes, purchased a licence.

It's quick, relatively simple, and I've already converted over 2GB of video files with little to no loss in definition. There are enough settings available to allow for the conversion of tricky files and formats too.

Oh - and it can convert AVCHD (+Lite) files without breaking a sweat - something I've also beenon the look out for, and so it's a win-win for me, and five stars for the application. Well done Christopher!

BARRY COONY  I have also did some tests with the version 1.3.7 and 2.0 and there is a HUGH different in speed. (will post them later)

Converting the same 50Mb video mpeg file to H264 was almost halved in converting time using version 2.0

Did you enabled 'Multi core support'?

The most important difference is the optimised FFMPEG file. It is not the GUI of iVideo Converter doing the converting!

Converning the OS X 10.6 readiness. The develop says it is the GUI is more geared at OS X 10.6. Not the core code.

Apple dropped PPC not the developer of iVideo Converter so shoot Apple instead. :-)

BARRY COONY  Promised some tests - thrown in some VisualHUB times too

File1 = MP4 file 113MB

File2 = MKV file 384MB

File3 = MPEG file 75MB

Converting to H264 to the same resolution and bitrate.

iVideo Converter 1.37:

File1 : 3Min 32sec

File2 : 12Min 03sec

File3 : 2Min 21sec

iVideo Converter 2.0:

File1 : 1Min 37sec

File2 : 8Min 40sec

File3 : 1Min 04sec

VisualHUB:

File1 : 2Min 26Sec

File2 : Didn't work

File3 : 1Min 58sec

There is definitely a speed improvement with the Intel optimized FFMPEG. Thumbs up for this

ANDYSHAWN  Shame I didn't find this converter sooner because it's a real gem.

Superb interface and the amount of usable options is amazing. Has support for all important and less important codecs.

I also tested this with the latest OS X 10.6 build and works without a problem (always nice to know).

I agree with Spooker: A preview options would be nice. (Although you can make your own short preview by settings the start time and length)
