DESCRIPTION
Snowtape... Listen to your Favorite Radio with its high-performance database, Snowtape is able to store thousands of radio stations for you to choose from. You can search for a particular station or sort the list by e.g. genre and bandwidth. You can also add any radio station onto your favorites list to help you quickly find the right station for your current mood.

Instantly Record the Program It's as simple as clicking a button. Hit the record button while listening to your favorite station and recording starts instantly. Snowtape is able to cut the recordings at audio track boundaries automatically. Snowtape can identify potential commercials or interludes. With the built-in track editor you can cut out any interfering audio you do not wish to be exported.

1-Click Export to iTunes Simply click the "Export to iTunes" button and the audio track is encoded to high quality AAC audio and saved right into your iTunes. Album artwork and track titles are automatically exported as iTunes Audio Tags and get incorporated directly into the audio track during export.

Import Internet Playlists Snowtape can import .PLS and .M3U internet playlist files as well as .Webloc URL files. Simply drop your files onto the radio list or choose "Import Files" from the application menu. You can also provide Snowtape playlist or stream URLs. Snowtape checks every URL and only imports those that work.

Drag & Drop iTunes Radio As a bonus, Snowtape also understands items coming directly from iTunes. This means you can easily import a radio station onto Snowtape by clicking and dragging from the iTunes list. It works with any radio station you previously imported to iTunes as well as with the complete iTunes radio catalogue.

Get Album Artwork Snowtape partners with Last.fm to give you the bonus of album artwork and additional album metadata. In most cases, Snowtape can download this information automatically for you. Alternatively, a "Get Album Info" button searches and adds any album info and cover artwork available.

CHAOTICPIXEL  This is a great radio player/recorder program. I have decided to purchase it, and I have not looked back since.

Pros: Awesome interface, records songs with artwork, song name, artist and album (if broadcast by station). It will stop and start a new recording when the song changes, so there is no need to worry about stopping a song at the right time. Or, you can just let it run and it will do everything for you. You can also edit the song's start point and end point to remove commercials or unwanted audio very easily, then export it to iTunes.

Cons: The mini player does not play well with spaces. I would like to be able to use another service other than iTunes for the "Buy" (would rather have "Get More Info" functionality) functionality. I would like to be able to edit the genres within the directory (rename, delete).

Summery: This is a fantastic radio player/recorder with all the functionality you could want, and is worth the money. I enjoy every moment I use it.

FARIBORZ  Dear developer, as a registered user of Snowtape I would like to thank you heartily for the mostly appreciated new features like support for Windows Media streams and MP3 export of audio files. Excellent work! Now Snowtape is really second to none. Fariborz AMIRSHAHI - Verona (Italy)

SUPIDUPI  I have tried the Radioshift prior to this and the only thing that is a maaajor thing that is actually a bad thing in my case the lack of stations

In Radioshift i just did a search inside the app for a station like : BBC 1 or a lot of others, and they were in my favorites in seconds

if u take that kind of stations searching instead of the one u are now using it woudl be by far the best radio app for mac

cause the recording and the visual part is awesome

but lack of this is just too big of a deal

pls consider

DSMITH  This is really no better than plugging the output analog port into the input of a microphone port. I was hoping this would be equivalent to what StationRipper is to Windows, but unfortunately no. The user interface in StationRipper may not be glamorous, but unlike SnowTape it actually downloads the digital file directly from the source such as Pandora, Aol Radio, Last.fm, and a few others. The nice thing about it downloading the actual file verse recording an audio stream is that you don't need to edit your songs and they are already individual native formats such as mp3 or acc or whatever the provider is offering. This is more like making a copy from a copy which anyone should know it loses quality if you do this. The source already has it compressed in an mp3 format and you basically recompress it again which introduces more loss of quality.

Though there is one good part about this program and that is whatever StationRipper can't get then this is a good backup source. This is better than Replay Music (windows) and it is cheaper. The user interface is a lot nicer and easier to understand. StationRipper is a little tricky as in you have to first start the program, start the listener, setup your proxy in your browser (Firefox is the easiest to do with extension addons), and then you can finally download direct streams. So not as user friendly, but if you are looking for the best quality then StationRipper has this beat. If quality isn't that important and are looking for some easy to use then this does a good job. In one review someone compared this to a cassette recorder in the 80s and that is about how easy this program is and though the quality is better than a cassette recorder even though it isn't the original.

Someone might think I am being harsh, but it is like some programs that actually download the FLV file of a flash video stream and those who record the overlay and audio source. It just isn't the same thing quality wise even though the goal is reached. Not to mention you have to record in realtime with SnowTape while in StationRipper it downloads it in matter of seconds (depending on your internet connection).

JAZZJOHANNES  Thanks a lot for this great application, finally somebody stood up to Apple's horrible iTunes development progress!

Pros:

- Brillant design

- very stable

- very fast access times for stations

- very small application size

Cons:

- no opt-out for Safari integration

- white font on black is bad the eyes

Missing features:

- shortcuts for switching radio stations

- import of .asf file format

- scheduled recordings

- last time played column for radio stations
