PARTHIBAN M This app is good, in the sense that it doesn't run on Adobe's AIR platform like many of the other Twitter clients. It's built on Cocoa, so it has the smoothness and stability of a true OS X app. Visually it looks very sleek, and the animations are very minimal and well done. However, the price for the non-ad supported version is quite steep, considering feature wise this app fares poorly. It doesn't have growl support, which would be very helpful for an app of this nature. Replying in a new (small) window away from the main app is kind of awkward at times, and it also is not possible to create themes for the tweet area, since the main tweet window does not use CSS styles. Overall, it's light on features, and heavy on the looks, but it is a 1.0, so there is time. Hopefully in future updates the app will become feature rich. The free version is worth it though, the ads are non-intrusive and far and few in between. The paid version however, is not, so far. Paid version - 3/5 (Version 1.0)

WALRUSCP I agree 100% - nice twitter client, but should be priced at $10 or so; especially when you can get EventBox for the same money and get a ton more features. Still, I would spend the money on Tweetie over Twitterific if I had to choose. (Version 1.0)

KERNELPANIC A good start but.. - give it the ability to use it just in the menubar instead making it running in both menu menu bar and dock at the same time - wtf? no growl?! Unacceptable. - menu bar icon looks like a plain black rectangle, which attracts too much attention. If it is based on the funny looking dock icon - fine, but cut it out inside or make it less opaque. - Maybe reduce it in size just a bit? It takes too much space to be honest. Also Twiteriffic's twit posting window (hud style) looks sexier than the default mac style window. (Version 1.0)

LEWISH While they obviously want to sell licenses, the unlicensed version is 100% exactly the same aside from some unobtrusive ads now and then. I have a feeling the license cost is a bit prohibitive intentionally - finding the most profitable intersection of ad revenue and license revenue. (Version 1.2.2)

WALRUSCP $15-20 is pretty much the price point for higher end Twitter clients (e.g., Twitterific is $15). I bought Tweetie while it was on sale early on, and I have to say I like it for its simplicity and clean interface. I also love Eventbox, and pull that out when I am doing heavy lifting social networking (Google Reader, Twitter, Facebook, etc., etc.). Atebits should probably consider pricing Tweetie at $13-15 to directly compete with Twitterific. I think they'd find a lot of success in doing so. (Version 1.2.2)

JOBBY OK, so we have a choice between paying or viewing ads. Fine. But why, if I choose to view ads, does it ALSO nag me on startup that I haven't paid? There's a "buy now" button and a "remind me later" button, but there isn't a "shut the hell up, I *want* to use the ad-supported version" button. At the moment Atebits are getting ad revenue from me. If Tweetie nags me again, they'll lose that and not recoup it in the form of a registration fee, because I'll be going back to Twitterific. Respect your users, don't nag them. (Version 1.0.2)

ROB.H Pleasant GUI but light on features. Not worth $14.95 at this stage. (Version 1.0)

-Sleek/intuitive interface -Global hotkey to send tweet at any time without bringing up the full window is GREAT! -Native Cocoa (efficient resource handling) -More features on the way! -Menubar icon simply acts as a new tweet indicator. (should be a badge on the icon instead) -Can't disable dock icon (only reason this app should need a menubar icon) -Can't tell the difference between read/unread tweets unless you actually scroll through them with the arrow keys ...simply scrolling with the mouse marks them as read, but doesn't change their appearance. -Spacebar should act like it does in twitteriffic ..not like Safari (having to use the arrow keys instead of the spacebar makes me take my hand off the mouse) -Price ...I'd buy it if it was $5-$10. $15? No thanks. $20? ...I think people are forgetting what kind of app we are talking about here. I'll stick with the ads. (Version 1.0)

MICKSMAC I paid for this, only to discover it has a huge drawback: unlike Nambu, it doesn't substitute shortened URLs, it simply truncates your whole tweet (adding a short new URL), effectively losing all text after the URL. I have no idea why people rave about this client. It is unusable for me. Do yourself a favor, go get Nambu for free. (Version 1.2.2)

KILLER KLOWN KAR People have been talking this up on Twitter for a while now. I do see their point, it is the "iChat" client of Twitter. For me however, it's seriously lacking. Everything is bunched into one window. The pane layout of TweetDeck and Nambu is much better. Additionally, no support for Trends, or customizable views. And charging $14.95 for something that although looks good is a very lightweight client in regards to it's features is rather greedy. Especially in this economy. (Version 1.0)

MISHA Thanks, added them. Where did you find the notes? Any idea what 1.1.1 changes? (Version 1.1.1)

SJK I still can't find release notes anywhere on the product site, including the blog. (Version 1.1.1)

GCOGHILL I found the release notes here: http://www.atebits.com/tweetie-mac/history/ (Version 1.1.1)

SJK Thanks for the link. Not sure how you found it since for some reason the history tab isn't displayed on the features and more pages, only on the history page itself. I wonder if that's intentionally stealthy. :) (Version 1.1.1)

GCOGHILL @SJK - Odd, you are right. I found that link via a Twitter update by the @Tweetie account. Odd it's buried like that, probably an oversight. (Version 1.1.1)
