DESCRIPTION
Mail Forge... Built from the ground up for Mac OS X and Windows, MailForge is designed to be a power user's email client, providing users with a host of features not commonly found in other email programs, such as the ability to edit every facet of received emails, scheduled sending of email, tabbed or multi-window interface, HTML vs text options, menu navigation of mailboxes, etc.
Harnessing the power of SQLite, MailForge also offers significant performance advantages, ranging from the ability to have a virtually unlimited number of emails in a single mailbox, to search capabilities that offer near instantaneous results. Even routine tasks, such as moving tens of thousands of emails from one mailbox to another, takes only seconds.
While MailForge already has a wide range of features, in the coming weeks and months we will be working hard to continue adding a large number of significant features and abilities to the program. For those interested in future development of MailForge, more information can be found at http://www.infinitydatasystems.com/mailforge/roadmap/.
MailForge is available for $19.95 per user, with discounted rates for volume customers.

PROGRAMHAPPY Can you please add the ability to open multiple emails at once? When I highlight multiple emails in my inbox, there is no FILE --> OPEN command. Also, double-clicking only opens whichever one of the highlighted emails that I actually touch with the cursor when double-clicking. Thank you (Version 1.3.6)

PROGRAMHAPPY I've downloaded version 1.2.3, and I can't find any way to display the new "Email" column. In fact, I can't find any way to ad/remove any of the columns. ----------------------------------------- OS X 10.6.1, MacPro 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (Version 1.2.3)

INFINITY DATA SYSTEMS Our apologies. By next build, we meant 1.3. 1.2.3 is a maintenance release that mainly focuses on bug fixes. We have quite a number of new features slated for 1.3, including the Email Sort that you requested. (Version 1.2.3)

PROGRAMHAPPY I just downloaded 1.3.1, and I still can't find this feature. Please advise. (Version 1.3.1)

INFINITY DATA SYSTEMS If you check 1.3.2, the feature you requested has been implemented. Look under the Special menu. (Version 1.3.2)

PROGRAMHAPPY Awesome! Thank you. The only problem still remaining with that new feature is that some email addresses are encased by quotation marks, which prevents those addresses from alphabetically sorting properly. I was just about to buy but did not proceed because I could not figure out how to open multiple incoming emails at once. I also could not find a way to remove columns that I do not need. (Version 1.3.2)

PROGRAMHAPPY Developer, can you please add the option to sort all messages in the inbox by EMAIL ADDRESS, not just by "sender"? I run a business, and deal with hundreds of different customers every day. I need to sort by email address! Can you please add an optional "Email" column? You'll be my hero! I'm sure that countless other people would also appreciate this sorting option. If you add that option, I will buy the program immediately.

INFINITY DATA SYSTEMS We work very hard to reply to all questions/emails we receive. We're going back and looking for your email to make sure we received it. (Version 1.2)

KRIONI There are some really dopey comments on here. They aren't reviews, merely pushing their own biases. Many people were willing to pay for Eudora and did so. If Infinity Data Systems can make an email application that can start to match the features of Eudora, they will actually be able to _sell_ MailForge, not just give it away for free like the other email clients. I'm going to guess that IDS is shooting for paying customers, not free-loaders who didn't appreciate the power-user features Eudora had and no other email client does, or seems interested in ever adding. They probably won't take advice from those who aren't willing to pay. I've been in their forums - they are very responsive to people who want the features of Eudora and are willing to pay for them. If you don't know about those features and aren't willing to spend any money, I'm hoping they will ignore your advice. (Version 1.0.2)

ODYSSEUS The real question is: does this product have anything close to the feature set and robustness of the original Eudora? Sure, you can wait until it does, but is it worth it to have a native Eudora client that can display html mail better than Eudora? (Version 1.0.3)

PROFINITE I was looking forward to the official 1.0 release. So, I downloaded the PPC version onto my G5 Tower. Upon launch, it gives an error message that invites me to tell the tech support what I was doing before the launch. I am very disappointed to see a release that cannot possibly called an official 1.0 release. At best, this is still an alpha. (Version 1.0)

INFINITY DATA SYSTEMS It sounds like you may have ran 1.0 over a very, very old beta. If so, there were a number of significant changes made in the later betas that could account for the error you received. Please contact us at dev@infinitydatasystems.com and we'll get it fixed for you. (Version 1.0)

WIDGE34 Why would anyone pay for this when there are other mail apps out there such as Apples Mail, Postbox, Thunderbird etc? (Version 1.0)

STEVE R I'm an old fart and I hang out on mailing lists with other old farts. Despite our ages, we try new things like other mail apps, and those of us who have been using Eudora since the early '90s still prefer to use Eudora. It suits our needs. Right now though, the only PPC app on my Intel Mac is Eudora 6.2.4. I've tried the 'new' Thunderbird-like Eudora and hate it. If MailForge comes anywhere near the classic Eudora handling of email, my credit card will be out to pay for it. (Version 1.0.2)

SHOCK J Does anyone still like the "Eudora style" e-mail client? So many disjointed windows. No other new/upcoming e-mail client uses this type of interface. Maybe that's a hint. I wouldn't use this if it was free. Just a bad UI. They need to move past this and stop trying to emulate a 10 year old defunct application everyone has gotten over. (Version 1.0)

INFINITY DATA SYSTEMS Actually, MailForge has both styles of interface... the multi-window interface for long-term Eudora users, as well as the traditional 3-paned interface more commonly found. (Version 1.0)
| Jun 10 2009 |
SHOCK J I missed that. At least you're giving your users UI options, but if I were you, I would use a screenshot of the other UI. I think people are likely to overlook the fact that the you do provide a paned interface, as I did. I think the days of Eudora have come and gone. Touting yourself as a "Eudora style" e-mail client could potentially alienate you against a large user base without them even taking a look at your product. Just my 2 cents. (Version 1.0)

You are right on by saying "They need to move past this and stop trying to emulate a 10 year old defunct application everyone has gotten over." But even less than an original vision or product, the people at Infinity Data Systems don't have a clue. (Version 1.0)
