DESCRIPTION
atMonitor is the most advanced monitoring tool for Mac OS X that displays system activity in real-time. It is designed to allow quick assessment of computer's state, but it is powerful enough to make it a core utility in anyone's system troubleshooting toolkit.

atMonitor offers a better alternative to Apple's own "Activity Monitor" and combines the best of the features of many other existing monitoring utilities. It also adds an extensive list of unique features of its own. In addition to the standard CPU, GPU, VRAM, FPS, Disk and Network info, atMonitor allows interaction with processes, setting up triggers, logging, purging RAM and much more.

There are three different ways atMonitor can display the monitored values:

  • in the menu bar
  • in the floating window on the desktop
  • in the dock icon
WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.1.2:
  • [bugfix] Add signal handler to helper process to imrpove robustness.
  • [bugfix] Do not use temperature sensors that report erroneous values.
  • Many other small bug fixes and improvements.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Mac OS X 10.5 or later
  • A modern video card is required for monitoring GPU activity.

NONTROPPO  Wow, a really nice app. Very useful graphical display and very low resource usage and stable. I normally use iStat Menus, but sometimes would prefer something more like a normal app I can run and not have to uninstall if I don't want it running. This does the job perfectly.

DJEFIS  Sorry, but I don't understand how the world is heavy like a stone.

I have seen five Star for MenuMeters that is a Dinosaur compared to atMonitor . . . .

Which is the only problem?

That atMonotor is so fine and Professional that, probably one day, it will become shareware (?).

But, at the moment it is free and it could show you how should be a software of this category.

We must choose not to endear us to the past.

Thanks.

NABBER  Bug: When trying to adjust the NET font size, CPU & RAM are adjusted, not NET. This applies to other things too but I haven't messed with this much.

Nice alternative to MenuMeters!

Thank you for kind words and the report, but it's not a bug. It was intentional behavior. There isn't much space in the menu bar to show 2 lines at anything but smallest sizes. I don't remember off top of my head the exact cut off size, but you can set Net font size to 7,8 or 9. Anything above 9 gets forced to 9.

cheers

DOOBIEXX  Great app, through and through. Free so please donate to keep this app going. Offers many extra features that activity monitor doesn't. Could be a complete replacement or a supplement but your sure to find something you like out of it. Very functional and well laid out and intuitive for the average user to grasp full control over their "machine." Thank you atMornitor team!

RADIORHAEEM  Excellent, excellent, excellent :)

Never thought I'd be replacing the main Activity Monitor, but this fits the bill.

TRONDAH  How do I make it run in the background without a dock icon? I just want it to sit in the menubar.

JIMBLU  that's a really great question. on the dock icon i do not put a check next to "keep in dock" but it still shows on restart. and when i remove it from Login Items, well then the app doesn't start up at all. i can't figure out the answer but i'm sure the developer will fix it soon. i can tell the developer has been busy making many UI changes. but how hard can it be to make an application icon not show up in the dock? -- it's done all the time. i'm sure there's some third-party app the could do it-- but i would just wait til the developer gets around to it.

i get the feeling this latest incarnation of atMonitor opened a whole new can of worms.

atMonitor is a full application, which uses UI (ie, TopWindow) that make it impossible to be implemented as background only application. Background only applications have very limited access to UI.

atMonitor is a replacement for "Activity Monitor" and as such will remain a full application.

However, if there is enough interest, we can create "atMonitor lite" with less features (no TopWindow, no FloatingWindow, etc.) but with menubar display and no DockIcon.

TRONDAH  I think a lot of people would be interested in that, considering your competition iStat Menus :)

BTW, the temperature is showing as 4-5 degrees lower than iStat, which is the correct one?

JIMBLU  nice improvements with the themes. very very nice. i did spend about an hour making the menu bar activity viewer black and white and gray so it would look nice with the other apple icons. when i downloaded this new one it said my prefs were no good anymore. no matter-- i am really liking the text theme. this app is so great. now just get rid of those dotted bars that separate cpu, ram, net, etc. and make it so i can make the text size 12 under net view--i'll stretch the window and make it work. could it show Airport as well as a wired connection too (at the same time)? the pref the tells it to look up application descriptions @ iusethis dot com gives me all sorts of warning signs in the Top Window--mostly about root stuff-- i figure that's because apple's inner gut root stuff is not posted at iusethis dot com.

in my last review of this app it cut off half my post, but it was like you read my mind as to my request. i guess everybody will shut up now about this not being as pretty as iStat Pro/Menus.

i know it's not your intention because this app is a developer app and does so much more than iState pro, but you are blowing away my all-time favorite widget.

thanks so much for making this application-- you are obviously a developer's developer.
