DESCRIPTION
ff_rename is a very powerful renaming tool that you need, if you need to rename a large number of files.

These are the key features:

  • simple / export mode
  • very powerful selecting / unselecting tools
  • regular expressions (egrep)
  • undo of renaming
  • very complex naming rules possible
  • saving and loading of rules
By using complex renaming rules you can
  • use EXIF information (SHUTTER value, creating date) for renaming
  • uppercase / lowercase filenames
  • trim filenames to a certain length (start or middle or end of target area) or by removing spaces or vocals
  • rename using current date or a counter
  • find and replace strings
  • find and replace single chars
  • find and replace single chars with index based search
  • most tokens can select target area (basename, extension or complete filename

MSADESIGN  What a sweet little app– and free! Yes, I found the interface a little unusual: I couldn't figure out how to get a new window then saw you just drag a new folder over. And I wanted to remove the word 'alias' from the end of a huge number of aliases, and it worked very well when I told it that 'alias' is an extension.

But so what? saved me a bunch of work and obviously a labor of love. I appreciate the work. And the price :-)

I'd like to give it a 5, but I know the developer agrees there's more work, and that is the only reason I gave it less than 5.

Did I mention it's free?

MAC4DREW  It works, at least for basic file renaming. I haven't tried any of the advanced features, but this app deserves a five-star rating for having no limitations, being free, and working.

thanks for the review.

Due upcoming changes I would like to set the current features in stone (0.5 will have saving/loading of rules - versions after this will build on the interal classes with the current features)

So if you miss something (that maybe another app has) please report it here :-)

Other remarks (especially critics or suggestions for improvement) are highly welcome!
