DESCRIPTION
SlidePad is a powerful, convenient note-taking application for Mac OS X, that slides in from the side of your screen when you want to take notes, and slides back out again when you're done. It makes it convenient without hurting your normal workflow patterns.

Key features in a nutshell:

  • Quick and unobtrusive note-taking. SlidePad integrates seamlessly with your workflow: you call it up with a single keystroke, enter your notes, and hide it again with the same keystroke. And that without every leaving your keyboard.
  • Powerful editing. Spice up your notes with SlidePad's powerful text editing features: format the notes with your favorite font family, style and size. SlidePad also lets you add images and photos with simple drag and drop.
  • Flexible options. SlidePad allows you to choose from which side of the screen to appear (left or right), and lets you set the key combination to show and hide the notepad.

ZEB B  SlidePad is not flexible. Its notes take over half the height of the screen, and this can be adjusted only minimally. I find it very obtrusive. When the developer addresses this problem, I'll consider SlidePad again.

BLULOO  I purchased this as a sidenote replacement for Leopard. I paid $9.99 via MacZot.

I initially found it somewhat lacking but the developer quickly replied to my comments. A feature suggestion I made (changing the window height) even made it into this release.

IMO, it's priced too high for what it does and that will keep it out of the hands of most users.

Seems like a responsive, responsible developer, FWIW.

IMO, $9.99 - $12.99 is about what a basic notepad is worth, even one that slides out from the screen.

YMMV

MACYOUZER  For twenty-bucks you'd think the thing wouldn't be so adamant about always opening in the middle of my screen. Not sure this app is worth an entire dock icon either. Not many features, in fact not much to it at all. As this point I wouldn't even use this if it were freeware.

ZO219  I'm not being mean, really I'm not. I used this, and it's modest, and $20 is too much.

SAMPLER  I am a happy and addicted user of Sidenote in Tiger. However some Leopard users have reported on the Sidenote web site that Sidenote has problems with Spaces. Therefore I suggest that Leopard users take a look at SlidePad as well.

JUERGEN MEIER  Very handy note pad to have at the touch of a button (option-space).

Got it to behave well in Spaces by assigning it to every space under System Preferences -> Expose and Spaces.

Cool icon btw!

Mfg,

ROBBY.IS.ON  The app seems a bit overpriced to me.

I'm sorry I can't test it as I'm on Tiger but it looks like only its aesthetics are superior compared to Sidenote (if anything all!) – which is free.

While not saying this software should be free I reckon a price in the range of 5 to 10 dollars would be more appropriate.
