JOLLY_JOKER Nice app; I think it's the best for functionality and mac-style! 1)with the "drag & drop", 2)if it could gave also the possibility to select which other informations to show, like year of the album, genre, ecc. (Version 1.2.1)

TECHCHICK99 I am very happy to own SongGenie. I own a pretty large iTunes library, a lot of mainstream music but also tons of rare titles. Especially these songs often only appeared as "Track 1", "Track 2", etc. It was so easy to include all the missing track information. Actually, SongGenie 1.1 allowed me to automatically apply all identified track information in one go, which saved me a lot of time. Listening to my iPod is much more fun, now, that I can actually see all song informaiton. (Version 1.1)

HOBOJOE First of all, let me say that I agree with the other commenters here: Equinux's policies are idiotic, antagonistic to their customers, and annoying as hell. They make you jump through so many hoops just so you can buy their software. It's really flabbergasting. Then, they are incredibly stingy with their licensing. Basically, you get to use their software with one computer. That's it. And you have to go through the same rigamarole to activate, deactivate, etc. In this day and age, the only other company that I personally know of to use these same draconian measures is Final Draft. And if you're unfamiliar with how they're doing, well, let's just leave it at that. Finally, their upgrade pricing is even stingier. I own CoverScout v.2, and they give you a $10 discount to upgrade to v.3. That would be very generous if the price was, say, $20, but it's not. It's $40, meaning an upgrade price of $30. (BTW, I've written to the company, expressing this.) Now, after all of that, let me say that SongGenie is the only app of its kind that really works. I have a bunch of songs that don't have names or any usable metadata, and I was hoping to somehow figure out what they are. I tried Jaikoz ($22 ugly ugly ugly Java app) and that didn't find any of my songs that didn't have good metadata. None. Its audio fingerprinting is totally useless. I also tried MusicBrainz Picard (free), and well, that was only a bit better. It found a couple of the songs in my test, but strangely, it kept throwing out suggestions that were obviously incorrect. I even tried using Shazam on my iPhone to see if it could find out who any of these tracks were by. It did okay with more dynamic tracks, but not so hot with softer, more ambient music. SongGenie did very well. In my test, it only failed to identify one track. Pretty impressive. It's also decent-looking, although it could use a nice whack from a subtlety hammer. The interface has some garish colors, and they have various column headings stuck together, so they blend into one big blue blob. Some other design choices need to be reconsidered too, like the lack of the ability to just open a folder. You have to add folders and directories in the Preferences, which is silly. And the tiny little warning message in the bottom right corner could be more informative and easier to see and read. However, the little flags it pops up are cute, and overall, the app is fun to use. Seriously. You can't help but get a little thrilled when you finally find out who that one song is by! The big frustration, then, comes strictly from the company's policies and treatment of their customers. I really, really didn't want to give them any more of my money. But I did, since SongGenie was the only application, in my experience, that did what I needed. I hope this helps others, and if you do end up buying any of their products, please be vocal about your displeasure with their policies if you do indeed agree with what I've said here. PAUL TAYLOR I don't know why you had problems with Jaikoz but under normal circumstances it is very good at identifying songs with no metadata as my customers can verify. (Version 1.1.1)

BIGIDEAS This is a very promising piece of software. I actually tried to buy it and stopped because the developer requires me to "join" their site. I don't want to join a community or have to provide personal information, all I want to do is buy the software. So, I didn't do it. You know there's a very basic principle in marketing - "Make your product easy to buy." SongGenie is not easy to buy. I'll keep an eye on it and see if they change their policy. (Version 1.1)

MITCH_DE Very nice looking GUI. Perfext Mac feeling ! functions & results are bad ! Compared (for exterme opposite) to an java based tool like beatunes, which some people complain because "bad mac feeling GUI" for me the bad results are reason why i cant recommend it in that early version ! TECHCHICK99 Hello everybody, I have a huge iTunes library with a lot of unknown songs and I must say, that SongGenie cleaned my iTunes. It is a fabulous piece of software, easy to use, clean interface and very precise. With its v1.1 update it also integrates into another equinux software relatec to iTunes: CoverScout. I downloaded the demo and tried it. My recommendation: give it a shot! Listening to my iPod is even more fun, now, that I can scroll through all my songs and actually get ALL the visuals with it. MACROB The first problem is that it takes so long to find and check your music, I have 40,000 songs and it's been 2 and a half hours and has only checked 10,000 songs. That's not even looking them up, it's only finding them on my hard drive! I have analyzed 12 tracks, and it couldn't find info for 10. (In demo mode I can check 4, close Song genie then reopen check 4 ...). I also set the track filter to "show songs with missing info", but SongGenie shows songs with song title, artist, and album. Maybe it's missing the years or something, but I wouldn't know that because SongGenie doesn't show that info! (Version 1.0)

MACROB Ok, now that song Genie has been updated, I have to update the review, and I'm glad to say that it's gotten better. First, finding the songs on the hard drive has gotten a lot faster-not fast, but faster than before. With the new update they have the ability to choose which album to assign to a song, for those songs that appear on multiple albums. They have also tried to incorporate coverscout into song genie whenever a song is missing artwork. This is a nice touch, but I personally don't use it. I like to do one thing at a time, and get it done. The way that they implemented switching over to coverscout is unobtrusive, so they get points for that. I still have about 150 songs that SongGenie can't identify, but out of 40,000 I think thats pretty good. (Version 1.1.1)

JOBBY I don't know whether it's a limitation of the demo, but it's only showing AAC tracks. There's this little format called MP3, chaps... (Version 1.0)

GRYPHONENT Another overpriced and badly implemented product by Equinux. This one is based on the free and excellent iEatBrainz. Try Jaikoz Audio Tagger or the original app before wasting time on Song Genie. (Version 1.0)

SHMK It's hard to evaluate a product that doesn't actually let you do anything, when I select the analysis>identify song I get a pop up window to buy the product. Useless. The two songs it did analyze it could not identify, what is the point? (Version 1.0)
