HEYSURREAL It works! Switch on Netatalk on the iPhone and home and root are automatically mounted. Very cool! Thanks for all the hard work. First time I ran it, the program exited abnormally when it tried to mount the shares - since then it seems to work fine. (Version 1.5)

MARK BURTON This is one of the most useful tools I have found recently. I'm using it to automount my iPhone's DataCase AFP share in the background so I can browse files in Boxee (media server software). Works perfectly and the developer has been nothing short of amazing at responding to questions and adding features. Top marks (Version 2.0)

SANDRO NOEL Thank you Mark! I had fun adding the features you asked for! (Version 2.0)

SRW2020 Nice utility! Dev is very helpful with issues. It only needs one feature back, allow editing of entries, that was there is 1.1. Unless I missed something you can only add and subtract an entry but not edit it in 1.5. Best part...it's free! (Version 1.5)

SANDRO NOEL :) I just added Editing to 1.6 (Version 1.5)

SRW2020 1.5 solved Airport mount issues I was having, however fileserver shares still not mounting. To be fair it's most likely the config of my fileserver, 1.1 still works though. (Version 1.5)

SANDRO NOEL What is the file server you are using. (Version 1.5)
| Dec 6 2008 |
According to console log, 1.5 is not resolving the hostname or the IP. (Version 1.5)
| Dec 6 2008 |
SANDRO NOEL Ah i see, is it a samba server ? smb servers are mounted tentatively even if the resolve failed, as long as the hostname is the same as the SMB name, it should work. if it's a AFP server on a linux station, be sure to have avahi installed and configured. if it's a mac, you are having DNS problems on your network. Note: 1.1 was not doing any resolving at all, nothing close to what 1.5 is doing. i was erroneously using the display name in the mount procedure, witch is not the right way to go :) but if it's working for you... by all means. (Version 1.5)
| Dec 6 2008 |
SRW2020 It's AFP, I'll look at the DNS issue. (Version 1.5)
| Dec 6 2008 |
SANDRO NOEL If it's AFP on a Mac it should advertise itself without any other help. If it's AFP on another system you need to have a seperate bonjour setup for the server to advertise. Zeroconf / Avahi .. on linux and all other flavors. (Version 1.5)
| Dec 6 2008 |
SRW2020 It's Mac OS X 10.5.5 (Client) I use it as a firewall and file server. Like I said though, it's probably a configuration problem on my end. (Version 1.5)

ONEBLESSEDGUY I just found this little app and wanted to make a suggestion. Sometimes, I have servers around me from the wireless network that I am on and I DON'T want to mount some of their access points. Could it be built into this app to exclude some access points? They seem to automount when I connect. An example would be when I connect wirelessly to one of my servers, it picks up the school's computers that I am sharing their connection. I don't want and will never use those access points. Or maybe just a way to hide them.

SANDRO NOEL Bonjour mounter will only mount the share points that are defined in it's list of mounts. At login or when the server becomes available it will mount all the share points that you have defined, nothing else. So if like me you roam from network to network, it will be nice to define only the one you actually use. If other access points than the ones you have defined in Bonjour Mounter are getting mounted, then it's probably something in relation to your network, in the sense that OS X Server can also do auto mounting when you log on the network. Thank you for trying out Bonjour mounter! (Version 1.0)
| Nov 29 2008 |
SANDRO NOEL I'm sorry I misunderstood your suggestion on the first read. I will look into a way to unmount share points that you do not want. Thank you for the suggestion. (Version 1.0)

BEDDIE I can't download this file. I've tried with three different browsers!!! (Version 1.1)

Just tested BM 1.9.2 and it seems to work much better for me. But I think that you've put too much work into BM... It shouldn't be necessary to create your own username/password dialog-box when prompting for password - the system (Finder) will do that for you. please try the following command from your terminal.app: open smb://your-username-here@server-name/share-point-name This way the system will also (automatiaclly) remember the password - and reuse it for every mount against the same server - no need for you to do any additional programming. Using the system for prompting is not only more os-compatible - but it also makes your application much more thrustworthy. Users are somewhat suspicious towards applications that prompts for username/password (fear of username/password theft) kind regards Uffe (Version 1.9.2)

SANDRO NOEL I was using the system prompted dialogue before, and you complained about it. There is not much many ways for me to control the system dialogue from the API that is available. If you know of a way to do it, you should let me know.
| Dec 29 2008 |
WUFFE Well I'm no expert in your BM codebase - but I guess that you along with your own username/password dialog implementation must have changed something "else" around the handling of empty passwords (ok admitted this is unclear). What I saw with BM 1.9 was the correct username/password dialog box - but the wrong username filled out. In parallel with that background threads seemed to be attempting to login with the correct username but an empty password - after 3 attempts in less than a second my account was blocked before I could fillout the username/password dialog. (I admit) without knowing your code I'm just guessing :-) Kind regards Uffe (Version 1.9.2)
| Dec 29 2008 |
The only thing that has changed and the reason why you do not see the threads asking for a password is that before the mounting threads get launched, BM will check if any of the mounts require a password. It will ask for that password and then pass it along to the mounting procedure as needed. The password will remain in RAM for the duration of the execution of the program. once BM is closed the passwords are lost they are not saved to disk. This procedure allows me to mount multiple shares from the same host with the same username/password. as opposed to asking the system to validate it against the server and THEN ask the user for the password. Since BM is a multi threaded application, up to 4 mounts can happen at the same time thus causing the system to ask to 4 passwords at once even if they are for the same host. witch is not a desired situation for the users. NOTE: This password scheme, was developed expressly for you, since no one else has mentioned the need for it. If you have now lost trust in BM because the password dialogue is a custom dialogue, I do not know what to say else than, do what you think is best, even if it means discontinuing the use of BM. Best Regards. (Version 1.9.2)
| Dec 29 2008 |
WUFFE I think you misunderstood me. I'm still happy a happy BM user and i do thrust your app. I just meant that the os dialog could save you from specialized implementation - but apparetly you've already tried that and it did not work as I expected it to.

MREDRUP This is a very handy piece of software, I keep all my iTunes music on a remote disk and if it doesn't get mounted before launching iTunes then my songs are missing. This launches my disk without fail every time so I don't need to remember to do it. Thank you. (Version 1.9.2)

MAXXXX I tried Bonjour mounter (1.1) and it does not seem to mount anything. I tired to mount my home server (mac mini) with the correct settings, but no luck as well as I tried to autmount my time capsule. Although I am not sure about the login name when mounting time capsule since os x is only asking fir a password.... may be someone has an idea? All my systems are intel based macs with leopard installed Does bonjour mounter create a log file?

Had a mounting problem with the USB drive attached to my Airport, solved it by adding ".local" to the address. Other AFP remote volumes mounted using the server's IP address. Nice utility. (Version 1.1)
| Dec 3 2008 |
Version 1.2 should resolve your issues. please let me know. (Version 1.2)
| Dec 3 2008 |
MAXXXX No, sorry still not working. Bonjour mounter does not throw a connection error message but it does not seem to establish a connection either. No Icon appears on the desktop nor is there any change in the "share" group on the sidebar of a finder window to indicate a connection (eject button). When I enter false values, like wrong password, etc, Bounjour mounter opens a dialog box with an error message. So it seems to do something... Very unfortunate. It would be a nice tool indeed if it was working.
| Dec 3 2008 |
What is the bonjour name of your mac mini? and what is the mane of the share of your mac mini ? can you mount it with the finer ? I'll name my server the same name and try with those settings and try to replicate the problem.
| Dec 4 2008 |
MAXXXX Thanks for the effort, My server's name is "napoleon", the mount point is "max". Any idea how the login name should be for the time capsule?

JAVATIGER Nice little app. for mounting my Windows server shares, I wrote a little Mac OS script to automaticaly integrate them - like: tell application "Finder" mount volume "smb://servername/share" Only one point I miss at the moment: Bonjour Mounter starts automaticaly with Mac OS, but I does not automaticaly connect the share - you have to click "Mount all". Thanks for the app and greetings,
