DESCRIPTION
BoinxTV is the pioneering live-production software for video podcasters that turns any recent Mac into a TV studio "for the rest of us".
Record stunning studio shows, podcasts, sports events, concerts, interviews, sermons, seminars and more using your Mac, multiple cameras, microphones and other footage. With its innovative user interface, BoinxTV makes it easy to create professional "TV style" recordings, setting a new quality level in the production of video podcasts.
Video podcasters currently have to spend many hours editing their takes to get a professional looking result. Post-production is a time-consuming part of their workflow. BoinxTV reduces the overall production time dramatically as cuts, graphic effects, titles and more can be applied during the recording of the show. Everything that can be done during live recording does not have to be done in post production.

EP1CURUS Follow-Up: I am very appreciative and it was very generous of Boinx Software to be part of the MacHeist bundle. Getting this at a huge discount, it can almost be considered free. I am more than willing to give Boinx air time. I would have a problem if I had paid 199.00 for it. It would be like paying 5000.00 for a Nikon or Canon DSLR and then having "Made by Nikon/Canon" imprinted on every picture or buying cake mix, baking the cake and then having to put "Made by Duncan Hines" on it. You are creating something so the product becomes yours. You bought a tool to do the job, like buying Craftsman tools to construct a table or deck. Did you build it or did Sears. At the beginning of movies you see for eg., ... Pictures, A ... Company, In Association with ... Entertainment. They are partners who invested time and money to produce the film and then share in the profits. For 199.00, Boinx does not invest any time or money in your project but share in the profits in the form of free advertising. If you put the video out for free, the advertising is still there. If there is a bandwidth cost, who is paying or sharing in the expense. Five seconds of air time can become a huge cost if the video became viral. Not everything is hosted on YouTube and the like. MACMAXPR The requested BoinxTV slogan/logo is for an outro not the intro of your videos. It will go on the very end. Just like iWeb websites or iDVD videos might have a Made on Mac or Apple logo on a corner. Apple does give you the option to take it out, but it is activated by default. I actually love the application. I am currently using it for church services. I can stream live and record.. and present on church screens at the same time. A full production. We did have to spend quite a bit on hardware to accommodate the requirements. But I needed 4 video sources as a minimum so we AHD to get a brand new Mac Pro with the ATI card option. Up to now it is working very well. Just wish it had more layers for a christian service type of situation. For example, lyrics with a database in a few languages, and bible verses in different translations. All of them available at the touch of a few keys and not having to depend on the web. Also, a few "Layers" need more options. The one with the cross for example. I can even put an image in the actual cross, but I can't put my own image as a background to the whole scene. Still, the only thing better than this (at a price) is the TriCaster. We will be upgrading to the full version though... just because we love it! (Version 1.4b3)

THORS The previous posters "review" is merely a rant. The BoinxTV application does not impose any addition on you. There are two pricing levels of the same application - $500 for the application without any licensing restrictions, and $200 for the SAME application, only with the license restriction that you *should* include a 5-second (not 10 second) ad mentioning that you used BoinxTV to create your piece. Or to quote Boinx themselves: "The BoinxTV Sponsored Edition has the same functionality as the standard version of BoinxTV. What happens, you may ask, if you "forget" to mention BoinxTV in your record as required? To be honest, presumably nothing will happen. No thunderbolts will strike you down for such despicable behaviour (disclaimer: Boinx is not, however, responsible for any lightning which may occur). There are no technical restrictions, but expect to collect some bad karma points at least!" And, to quote their actual "restrictions" on the sponsored edition: "The BoinxTV Sponsored Edition requires a 5 second credit for BoinxTV in every video created with BoinxTV. To make it easy for you, the BoinxTV Sponsored Edition comes with a dazzling "Made with BoinxTV" credit movie you can add to your recording. You are free to create your own credit of course. Maybe you want to mention to your audience that you're using BoinxTV." Note how you are free to decide how, when and where you put your little ad ? As for judging the BoinxTV application, I'd say it's a rather big bang for the buck. Blue/Gree screening, multiple cameras, layers and programmable (quartz) effects. This gives hobbyists access to what a couple of years ago would have amounted to tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. There is however a ... dark side. It does require a healthy lot of processing power. Fast hard drives and a lot of RAM with a decent CPU and a motherlode of a graphics card. On my 8-core 2.8GHz Mac Pro with 14GB RAM and GeForce 9800 512MB, I still get frame drops once in a while if I try any of the more advanced things available in the program. But as time progresses, I'm sure they will optimize the program even further. As it is, it's already a very good solution to a complex and before this a very expensive problem. (Version 1.5b1)

EP1CURUS I got this in the MacHeist 3 2009 Bundle. It's got some pretty stiff requirements. OS X 10.5.5, QuickTime 7.5.5 and a Mac without one of those integrated graphics processor. Well.. the software is the easy part. No Boinx for you. It will probably run but no support is provided if the app locks up, crashes or a feature does not work or work properly. For 199.00 it is a "Sponsored Edition". What does it mean, you "have" to promote the company in any of your broadcasts. For 300.00 more (standard edition), then you are "free" from promoting the company. That's the only difference. No change in software functionality. These people are smoking some bad crack. You can advertise all you want on the product I buy but if it is something I produced, there is no way, no how that I am pushing your company. I don't mind too much since it was in a hugely discounted bundle but if I had paid full price... From their site it does not appear the app will "watermark" your broadcast. You do it on your own accord and if you don't, bad karma may float your way. I certainly will not feel guilty after paying 199.00. At least the whole video is not watermarked, a 5 second upfront intro is requested. This leaves the future in doubt. They could add some enhancements or push out a bug fix and sneak in a mandatory advertisement. Since you purchased the sponsored edition, they would tell you that you knew this going in and wash their hands clean of it. No where in the agreement says they can't or won't. A sign of the times. We have advertising on just about everything we buy from cars, computers, TVs, etc. I guess it's just a matter of time before software watermarks anything we create. Something like this however takes away from the result. Would you like to see photographs you have taken of your children or vacation trip plastered with "Made by [camera manufacturer]" on it? If I buy it, advertising comes with the territory. If I create it from a product I bought, absolutely not. (Version 1.2.1)

HMURCHISON That's a tall soapbox your standing on. BoinxTV isn't doing anything that a thousand companies don't do. Want to license HDMI for your product it's $.14 cent per port. Include the HDMI logo on the front of your device the per port cost drops to $.04. Why? Because it's an easy way to generate awareness. In essence you are co-marketing with the licensor. Why not be proud of the quality of your presentations due to the fact that BoinxTV works? They're saving you $300 to do this co-marketing and that's significant IMO. I hate advertising as much as the next person but if I proudly use a tool I don't mind people knowing what I'm using especially if I'm getting said product for less than half the cost.
