DESCRIPTION

iPaint is a painting application for Mac OS X. It is based off of a former painting application called Paintbrush. Paintbrush hasn't been updated for almost 1 year and it was time to do something. Paint Brush and iPaint are open source and full credits are still given in iPaint. You will see dramatic changes in iPaint in iPaint 2.0. I am working hard on bringing a new evolution of painting to Mac.

GERMANO60  How does it come that this app works on a PPC architecture when it's declared "Intel only"? Are you sure you're commenting on the right place?

DNELSON  Of course I'm commenting on the correct app! iPaint 1.1v3 also runs great on PPC.

MATTHEW CULMORE  While the download is version 1.1, upon launching the app it tells you of an update, which can be downloaded and it is actually version 1.3.

Nice fast and easy app, and it should be nice as it matures.

CHAS90  I have a 10.4.11 Intel Mac, and iPaint is running on it.

But that's just because I denied every further update after version 1.4. (The newer versions all produced the same problems as for the other users)

In this version the only things that don't work are: cutting and copy&pasting... and I have to forcequit.

THREEDEE912  I'm running 10.4.11 on a PPC Mac, and I can't seem to make a new painting at all. When I open the app, it only shows a tool palette, and selecting "New Painting" from the menu doesn't do anything...?

THREEDEE912  Runs fine now, I can create new paintings and draw perfectly.

Except some of the text is white-on-gray, which is pretty hard to read. I'm guessing it has something to do with Leopard's HUD windows?

TELSTAR5  Well, this app does look quite good - in the screenshots, but it's Leopard only. Guess if I could afford the update, I'd have Photoshop instead.

Is there a stable version which will work with x86 10.4?

*....

OILCONSUMER  1. Can't see the difference between this and paintbrush...

2. Stop button on the toolbar is ugly

2b. The whole toolbar is ugly, i want simplicity.

3. ugly overall interface, HUD and normal windows do not integrate well together.

This is practically a bad remake of Paintbrush...

bad vote from me and as BIMMER said, not worth downloading.

ZC456  I can't comment anymore on iPaint since its no longer for my platform at all. While you've gotten a very low rating so far, I also agree with Bimmer (sept for the Vanilla Draw part.) Don't stop Mac OS X does need paint. Even if Apple won't make there own version.
