"...freely available to anyone with a free developer account through Apple." Forgive me but I think there are far more end users than developers and I just don't feel right pretending that I am a developer in order to get my hands right now on the next version of Safari! "...SafariTabs gives you the same feature and more for free. " I am not so sure you are correct here... Taken from safari tabs page: "...gives you the option of choosing what page newly created tabs should load." Frankly I don't need or want more options... I simply want to click a button... and produce my home page in a new tab thank you very much end of story! I really think one of the key draws to Safari besides speed is its "zen elegance". Safari New Tab practices zen elegance perfectly by trying to help you see that less...is more. The developer could have padded his patch with a few more things but I agree with him, Safari really NEEDS not much of anything now. I agree that this patch has been missing from Safari for forever and I think it's more than reasonable to pay LESS than ONE DOLLAR to have this function since we can never know how long it's going to be before Safari 4 finally gets here. Frankly, I find it sad and dismal how many people on Macupdate give negative reviews for a good piece of work simply because that work is not offered for free. I am all for confronting developers who overprice their work but I really hope that more folks begin to consider the fact that a patch, or an app, or a system pref, or a screen saver...these things take TIME to make these things plus it takes commitment and perseverance to stay responsive to those try/use their creation. If more of us bought one less Café latte and coughed up a few more bucks for shareware every month, we would only see a steady increase of creativity, quality AND response when needed from the developer.
