DESCRIPTION
Marketplace... It's Craig's List. Without the Ugly.
Love Craig's List but hate how painful and ugly it is? I do too. So I created Marketplace. It takes the pain and ugly out and leaves the good stuff in.
Made for Mac - Made by a Mac user, for Mac users. It's simple, straight-forward, and fast. Everything a Mac application should be.
Find Anything - Search across multiple regions and categories. Get all the results in one convenient window. Then narrow your search down even more with built-in filtering.
Choose Favorites - Store the best results and come back to them later. Put off until tomorrow what you could do today.

BIKER4MAC Some would wonder why they'd want to pay for an application to access a free online service... Generally, for the added value that it provides and the time that it saves. I used to save my craigslist searches as bookmarks and then open items that I found interesting in new tabs in my browser so that I didn't have to keep bouncing back and forth from the list and the items. Then I'd save items that I was interested in as additional bookmarks. All of this worked to a point, but ended up with a somewhat confusing jumble of bookmarks and the possibility of sometimes missing new items. Marketplace allows you to save your searches and save items that you are interested in as favorites in a separate list. Three panels across your display show your saved searches and favorites in the first, the list of items in the currently selected search in the second, and a currently selected item in the third. No more jumping back and forth. Further, after creating a search you can filter those results at any time. There are three different craigslist areas close to me that I search through and a combination of searches for specific words and general category searches that I use. But at any time I can use the "filter" to add specific constraints to my search. This can be especially helpful if I saw something a couple days ago and didn't add it to my favorites at the time but further thought has made me want to check it out again. Finally, Josh is an incredibly responsive developer. If you e-mail him with a question, possible improvement, or comment he is most often going to reply within 48 hours and usually within 12 hours. When I first started using Marketplace I was impressed, but sent him an e-mail with some ideas of what would make it "perfect" for my use. Within months all of the suggestions that I made were implemented! I have no idea how many other people may have suggested similar improvements to mine, but it shows that Josh responds to his user base. A clean, simple program that definitely delivers! I'm not really sure why you think it's only half-developed. Marketplace isn't for posting so it doesn't make sense to use your Craigslist account. (Version 1.1)

F451 This works for someone who has multiple searches going constantly, but I have accomplished the same thing with LaunchBar search scripts. (Version 1.0.1)

KITMOS Worked well for me but I think that $20 is way too much for it. It's a $5 or $10 app imho. (Version 1.0.1)

CHAS_M WAS free, now suddenly it's worth $20?? Look, I don't mind if the dev decides he wants to charge for something he did, that's fine. But I do think it's only fair to: a) let people know in advance (no explanation whatsoever on the web site) b) be realistic about pricing (Craigslist isn't THAT hard to navigate) Call me when this gets to be $5 or a 99ยข iPhone app, and we'll talk. MACNERD1984 Yeah, it is a bit pricey. $5.00, $10 Max really. When you consider what you get with some free and lower priced apps (of all sorts) $20 does look like a lot of money. Think I'll stick with the old CL "interface" for now, but interesting app nonetheless. (Version 1.1.5)

CHRISCORVETTE Has anyone made this work? I've downloaded to two computers, and, whenever I attempt a search, I get nothing but a blank page. Support seems to be available only with paid, not trial, versions. (Version 1.0)

JOSHABER Hi CHRISCORVETTE, Email me at josh@marketplacemac.com and I'll try to figure out what's going wrong.

MISHA This is pretty neat, I just tried beta 4 for the first time. The only feature I wish it had was the ability to drill down into sub-c ategories... my search for "Mac Pro" in "Austin, TX" produced results that included a 1995 Cobra Convertible.. I realize this app is effectively just scraping the results of the barebones Craigslist search, but it would further be cool if we could restrict searches to just titles or those with images, too. BELINE Decent App. I actually finally upgraded because of this app. I had been putting 10.5 off for weeks, but I finally did it, just so I could try this thing out (in need a work recently). Makes redundant searching wicked easy. Very stable, and very straight forward. Few things though... While I does some things very easily and straight forward, I am left a little awkward... The app menu bar (up at the top of the screen) has unused items that just make the program seem sloppy. The "File" option is largely unnecessary, save for "Close" and "Print," yet it has New (what?), Open, Open Recent, Save, Save As, Revert to Saved and Page Setup, all of which grayed out and unused. The "Edit" menu has a full assortment of options, all of them grayed out, as does the "View" menu and the "Format" menu (save for "Colors" in the format menu... which... is used? no?). Then there is the absence of a help file. If options are useless, they should not be included. Simple as that. That's my only gripe though, and it is very minor. Other than that. It does what it says, and it is rock solid in my experience. A way to limit the number of returned listings: Certain number from each state; Only so many days old; Certain number per search. The third option brings in my other desire, order options: Ordered by state (current), Ordered by date (and limit the number in this list either by how many days old, or ow many per state). The limit and order options could be by search, which brings me to my third and final request. Naming of searches, other than what it is searching for (although that works to auto populate it). If you need any help, I would be more than willing to assist for free... (Version 1.0b2)
