DESCRIPTION
moneyGuru is a personal finance management application. With it, you can evaluate your financial situation so you can make informed (and thus better) decisions. Most finance applications have the same goal, but moneyGuru's difference is in the way it achieves it. Rather than having reports which you have to configure (or find out which pre-configured report is the right one), your important financial data (net worth, profit) is constantly up-to-date and "in your face". This allows you to constantly make informed decision rather than doing so periodically.

Get it done right. moneyGuru is loosely based on the double-entry accounting system, where every account -- including income and expenses -- is a first class account, not just a category. It allows for a lot of flexibility in finance management strategies (such as cash management).

Get it done fast. moneyGuru has a very efficient navigation and edition system which allows you to painlessly go around your accounts and transactions and modify them. Keyboard shortcuts are neatly designed and efficient. Values are auto-completed when it makes sense. Date edition uses a special widget that lets you edit dates with the least possible number of keystrokes, regardless of your date format. (screencast)

Get it in there. moneyGuru can import QIF, OFX, QFX and CSV files and can export to QIF.

Get international. moneyGuru's support for currencies is way ahead all competitors. While other applications that bother with currencies at all do it half-heartedly with poorly thought out designs, currencies are at the core of moneyGuru's design.

See it coming. moneyGuru is future aware. Select a date range that ends in the future, and see, through the sheets and charts, how scheduled transactions and budgeting will affect your finance.

MRP53  I have been using moneyGuru for a few weeks and I must say that this program leaves the others behind. While moneyGuru might very well lack some of the flash and a few of the features that the competitors have (backup to MobileMe or scheduled transactions for example) it offers a solid means of tracking accounts and spending that is straightforward and reliable. The program is very easy to use and the developer is among the most responsive that I've encountered. Ask him any question or make any suggestion and you will receive a prompt and enthusiastic reply. He is more than willing to work with you until the problem is resolved. I experienced this above and beyond style of customer support when an earlier version of moneyGuru could not import a QIF exported from a competitor program. Within less than one day the developer found the issue offered the solution and I was off and running. MoneyGuru is a work in progress and the website is right up front about this. It is being developed and improved at a respectable pace and features such as scheduled transactions will be in release 1.2 (beta version available on support site). I can recommend moneyGuru without hesitation to anyone interested in a personal financial application for the Mac OS platform. The product is solid and is backed by a developer that knows the value of satisfied customers.

GRYPHONENT  Whoa... really good. And eventually a simple way to treat multi-currency accounts. The app crashes quite regularly here and needs further development... but I'm certainly coming back for another test run. moneyGuru shows a lot of promise indeed.

HSOFT  Thanks for the review. Please, when moneyGuru crashes, let me know about it! It's *not* supposed to do that :) You can contact support from my website.

DEREKJAB  I have been using this application for a couple of weeks now and am very impressed.

It is a work in progress, and therefore lacks a few killer features such as scheduled transactions and forecasting, but I understand these are in the pipeline.

I especially love the very intelligent autofill implementation.

The developer is very responsive and hopefully will keep working on the application, unlike several others on whom I've wasted registration fees.
