KEN HARVEY  Animated Notification for Receiving Email is built into OS X Mail.

(Whenever you Receive new emails, the Mail icon in the Dock will

start Bouncing with the number of Unread Emails in a Red circle.)

To enable, go to Mail/Preferences/Rules and do the following:

1) Click New Rule

2) Enter New Mail for Description

3) Select If any

4) Select Every Message as the only Condition

5) Select Bounce Icon in Dock as the only action

6) Close Mail Preferences - instantly enabled

Clicking Mail icon in the dock stops the bouncing,

until new mail is received.

STEVEN GOODHEART  I really like this little pref pane! It has a *heck* of a lot of customization and makes using Mail even more enjoyable -- and notifications much, much more informative. In the advanced settings, for example, you can have MailFX Pro look for e-mails from certain e-mail addresses and have it pop up a message window and/or have pop-up notifications from certain e-mails be a certain color. The animation is great and there are some fun alert sounds, too. There are a few rough edges -- some of the yellow explanatory pop-up messages (when you do a mouse-over) for various functions come up in French! Mon dieu! But the functions are pretty self-explanatory and that didn't get in the way of my figuring out things.

Used it for a few hours and bought it -- best $7.95 I've spent on shareware in a long time! Highly recommended.
