    *....

JUANCAB  The Stapler/Stacker attachment still doesn't work on my HP LaserJet 4200. HP won't even take a bug report for the newly purchased stapler/stacker because it is attached to an out of warrantee printer. Never mind they were perfectly willing to sell me the stapler/stacker for the out of warranty printer, they just didn't explain that there would be no support attached for a printer the stapler/stacker lists as supported.

By the way, it is a driver issue. This stapler/stacker works perfectly fine under WIndows. But on the mac, attempts to print multiple copies of a document each individually stapled results in all the copies being stapled together by a single staple.

CLETUS  If you use the SW update panel, the download is reduced based on just the needed printers.

JEFFSTERS  I have tried to install this twice even and after a reboot, with a repair permissions for good measure, each try it never gets passed the final "Running Package Scripts" with about a minute to go. It sits there running 100% CPU with "kextd" as the culprit. Might just be my system but an FYI! I am running 10.6.2 on a MB Pro Core 2 Duo.

JEFFSTERS  UPDATE: I left it alone and after 14 min it FINALLY finished. Not sure what was going on or why it takes 100% of the CPU for 14 min to install a print driver on my system but it's done and an FYI to anyone else that sees this issue.

CLETUS  If it properly showed up in the update preference as it is supposed to with Mac, you would only need the components required. Hopefully the manual download will provide only the elements needed. Still, it is something that should show in the update preferences if you asked me.

MANU_7312  I am confused by this... If I own only 1 HP printer (OfficeJet J6400 series) and want to update the printing and scanning drivers just for this one printer (I cannot scan anymore since the upgrade to SL), do I really have to install 545.6 MB of "stuff" ?

ANDREWM8  if your printer is listed as supported (follow the 'More information" link to find out) then simply go to Print/Fax preferences and add the printer - the updated driver will be downloaded automatically, no need for the huge download.

RODPAINE  If you own an HP Color LaserJet 2600n, as I and many Mac users I know do, you'll still have to go to the HP web pages and get the needed driver.

    ****.

PAUL HARVEY  Excellent. Added HP Deskjet D1560 for USB to printers list where it would not show up previously and as a bonus added the option of connecting and printing fully wirelessly through Bonjour. Which as frustrated forums blogs show was not an option even on Leopard.

So both an update for SL and an update for missing features on original software.
