MACVAULT As of today 8/11 Nik has just released an update (v1.001) which hasn't been picked up by MU yet. This seems to have resolved for me the very slow performance experienced when using the plug in via Aperture. Very happy now! Thanks Nik. Love this plugin, it rocks! (Version 1.0)
MACVAULT I'm currently running the trial of this, and have to say there seems to be some serious issues (with the Aperture version). I own Viveza from Nik as well and that plug in works great in both PS and Aperture, so I'm not sure what the issue is. I tried it on both a 2.33Ghz MBPro with 4MB of RAM as well as my 2.8 Ghz MacPro with 8MB of RAM and it's really slow. After uninstalling the Aperture version and installing the PS version, it runs just fine. Buyer beware. (Version 1.0)
DR. FRANKNFURTER tried this on a mbp with 2,33 ghz and 2 gb ram as a demo, unfortunately it is slow as hell, don't know why. just the preview lasts and lasts and lasts... the results are really great but it is no fun to work with! waiting for an update... (Version 1.0)
Are you by chance shooting with a Canon 40D? I did some additional experimenting and what I've found is that RAW 40D images bring this plug in to it's knees...terriblly slow performance. When I opened JPG files or Canon 20D images, things work just fine. I'd love to know what files you're opening since I've got an open ticket with Nik to try to get the issue resolved. Thanks! (Version 1.0)
Thanks for the info. I'll let them know there seems to be an issue with 5D RAW images as well. I shoot exclusively in RAW as well. Just for kicks, have you tried opening any JPG files to see if the sluggishness disappears? I think the plug in is great too. I actually bought it yesterday. It seems that performance is fine with my 40D RAW images ONCE THEY FINALLY OPEN. And as before, this slow performance does not appear when opening JPG files or RAW Canon 20D files.
