DESCRIPTION
FunctionFlip... I like the media keys on my MacBook keyboard - just not all of them. Fat-fingered that I am, I regularly skip tracks when I just want to pause. Disabling all of the keys just won't do, because I use the brightness and volume keys every day.

FunctionFlip individually controls your Macbook or Macbook Pro's function keys, turning special keys back to regular F-keys, or vice-versa.

FunctionFlip requires that "Enable access for assistive devices" be checked on the Universal Access pane in System Preferences.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.0: Multiple keyboard support. Fixed F1 and F2 keys on external keyboards.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

PEN_SQ  The iTunes hot-keys were a terrible step backwards towards making a Mac look more like a cheap PC "Media" klutterboard. FunctionFlip restores your keyboard's Mac-ishness quickly, simply, and invisibly.

BILL_601  I found it didn't really work for me. It would disable the printed functions on the keys, but they wouldn't work as actual functions keys.

Just wondering what file in the OS this alters. Ever since I uninstalled it, my keyboard and trackpad will quit working. I can use a bluetooth mouse and I can use the Keyboard Viewer. I can even Share Screen from another computer, but the local keyboard and trackpad won't work until I put the thing to sleep and wake it up again. That seems to fix it for a little while.

Perhaps the developer can comment on what file may be affected to cause this?

DRDUL  Great addition to my MacBook Pro. I have configured FF so I no longer have to hold down the "Fn" key to adjust the volume, but I still need to use the "Fn" key for every other function key. This has the added benefit of enabling me to adjust the volume on my MBP with an external keyboard using the corresponding function keys.

ALGOS  While I like the prefpane, I found I can not fast forward and rewind when it is active. Skipping tracks works fine though. Is this a know limitation?

JAZZADDICT  I need this .app because I have no use for the brightness keys (because I have a Dell screen), no use for the iTunes keys because my keyboard shortcuts set in SizzlingKeys are more convenient and responsive, so function flip opens up opens up the use of those function keys for me. I hate holding the 'fn' key. It fn sucks lol. I would rather this .app be in System preferences because it's cluttering my menulet area. I can understand why some would still want the menulet as an option even if it was put in System Prefs. System prefs just seems like a more appropriate spot.
