DESCRIPTION
Office Dock is one application in a series of applications I am making to reduce Dock clutter and use very small applications to take the place of many others. These applications are normally around a 100 kb, and use 0 CPU when they are open and idle. To use them you can right click on the icon in the dock and you will see a custom dock menu listing a series of applications you can launch from there.
Making these applications from the feedback I get takes time, I do this as a hobby. If you enjoy using the software, and would like to see them kept up to date and more, and you would like to donate a few dollars to keep them coming please contact me via email.
This one is specifically for Microsoft Office 2004 and 2008. If you want to see some more of these type please email me and give me an idea of some of the applications you would like to see supported.

MANICHE First of all: THANKS! Little request: Wouldn't it be possible to add a feature which allows you to hide individual Office apps icons in the Dock when "Office Dock" is used ? That would definitely reduce clutter. In the future one could also imagine resizable app icons inside the Office Dock menu... ;-)

SAMSOFTWARE Hiding them from the dock would also eliminate them from the application switcher and the menubar, I have already looked into this for eliminating the dock applications from the menubar and application switcher but keeping them in the dock, so it seems to me that it is you will either have all the things, or none.

MAHOJAS I would like to see the application to be able to show a grid or fan display of the MSOffice applications, instead of just the list option.

ALEXIUSCA I appreciate the author's efforts, but because this loads as a normal application (i.e. it shows up in the command-tab list) it is much less useful than a docked folder or other type of App launcher

SAMSOFTWARE There is no possible way to remove it from the application switcher without removing it from the dock as well. I have contacted Apple and a number of Cocoa developers about this and it cannot be helped.

ALEXIUSCA I realize this; you might want to look at what the app Quay does. I realize it resides on the right half of the dock, but it is a great solution nonetheless.

OILCONSUMER You should make this application able to open aswell such as offices "Microsoft Project Manager" this will make this application less cheap and in my view, OWNAGE. :) [I dont like how i have to right click to choose, i just want to CLICK and a menu pops up or something!] Anyway, GREAT idea!

DVARLOT creating a slack with the alias of the application amkes the same and uses no resource at all. So even if I thank the developper for its efforts I don't see the use of such an application

GREG RAVEN You can do a lot of this without any hassle by simply putting Project Gallery Launcher in your Dock. It's already on your disk at MS Office -> Office -> Project Gallery Launcher.

SAMSOFTWARE Using the project gallery is a waste of time, personally I have never used it, and I have never seen anyone else use it in their docks. if you launch project gallery then you get this other window that you have to deal with, whereas if you use this launcher it is contained to one menu from the dock icon.

STUTEMP1 Nice idea, and good that it doesn't eat CPU cycles, but why does it take 15Mb of RAM and 200Mb of virtual memory space just for a little menu app? (according to Activity monitor) For now I'll keep a folder of aliases in the right side of the dock.

SAMSOFTWARE Are you on an intel machine? If so it may be because it was compiled on a PPC machine. It is either that or it may just be your machine for whatever reason, also is it using 15MB while it is idle or while it is launching an application? If you could send me an email of a screenshot of Activity Monitor showing this it would be very helpful.

TOMDOHERTY Earlier problem still exists re MSN Messenger (i.e. Office Dock launches Messenger ...but does not opens the Personal Contacts dialogue box and automatically signs in as would normally happen when you launch it straight from the OS X Doc). All other Office apps work perfectly. Thanks for your continued improvements.

SAMSOFTWARE Could please send me an email containing exactly what happens because personally I don't use MSN messenger, preferring Adium myself, and don't have a working MSN account so I cannot test that exactly, from what I can test it opens MSN messenger and prompts me with an username and password window to login.
