DESCRIPTION
Countdown Browser is our tribute to Keith Olbermann. We just had to develop a special piece of software to help fans of Countdown (like ourselves) to keep up with the show. MSNBC publish video clips on the Internet. Watching Countdown using any ordinary browser such as Safari or Firefox on Mac is painful! Simple answer: Countdown Browser. Watch Keith in the comfort of your own Mac. Our native Mac software regularly checks for clips posted on the Net; alerts you when new clips become available. View video clips directly using Apple's built-in QuickTime technology (with help from Perian an excellent multimedia conversion toolkit, far more reliable than Flash). It's a cross between RSS feed reader, Internet browser and video player. Enjoy! Download the software now. Take it for a spin. You can watch the first clip of each day freely. If you like what you see, register via PayPal and receive lifetime updates.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

PIONEERS!  Indeed. Yes, we know; although it wasn't at the time we started developing. You can also view the show via the MSNBC website, although this works poorly on Mac in our experience (revs the CPU, skips clips, downloads unreliably, etc).

Countdown Browser is just a native tool for pulling flash video clips off the website. Despite other "ports of call" existing, there are some advantages accessing the flash clips using Countdown Browser: you just get the highlights, not the entire show, also the show plays hot from the MSNBC website rather than waiting for the big download (which is usually slow and sometimes unreliable, depending where you are in the world!).

Actually, the app is just a vehicle for developing the underlying technology and infrastructure; we have in mind using it for other work along these lines. Countdown Browser is kind of a concept car! If Macsters find it useful we could expand it to incorporate more video feeds from MSNBC, or even other sites...

    Thanks for feedback. Best wishes,
