FREEDMAN  Developer responded to my comment (see reply below) and advised that a revised version is now posted for download. Problem solved.

FREEDMAN  This new version continually prompts to upgrade component plug-ins every time it launches. Clicking the upgrade button does nothing. The support forum recognizes that this has been a problem with past versions, but offers no help. Emailing using the developer's website contact form yielded no response. Aside from this very annoying glitch, the program works fine.

YAZSOFT SUPPORT  I don't recall seeing any email from you. Regardless, this issue has already been addressed. There was a glitch in the first build we uploaded. Simply re-download this version from our website and replace the one you currently have. That should do it. For further assistance, you may reach me at info@yazsoft.com at anytime.

Thanks,

Johnny

STONETOWNMIKE  I had a problem installing the newest update to Speed Download Lite. Emailed tech support and received a reply within a couple of hours. The next morning an email was waiting for me with a link to a bugfix build. Terrific support for a first-rate program. Consider this a rave review.

MICHEL GIN  I totally second what PANDITHAN said

Since I'm usind Speed Download, no more stress about losing a big download before the end. I can come back and keep downloading from where I was.

The perfect tool ! I advise anybody to buy it ! It worth the small price !

And people at Yazan are very friendly.

PANDITHAN  I've been a registered user of Speed Download since Version 3 ever since I found Version 2 to be most useful. Although I've upgraded to full Version 5, I've taken advantage of the recent 1-for-1 promo to buy SD Lite 1.0.1, so that I now have 2 registered copies, one for iMac and the other one for MBP. SDL is ideal for me since I use SD only for downloads. SD and SDL are exceptionally fast and the user interface is typically Mac, i.e. completely intuitive. The info on screen is just what is needed. Best of all, SD is activated automatically when I click download on any webpage in Safari. By placing in the sidebar an alias of the SD folder created by SD in the Documents folder, I can easily retrieve the downloaded documents by clicking on the alias in any file window. I don't normally pay for shareware unless it is of frequent practical use. SD is one my few can't-do-withouts.

HYM4596  Absolutely the most powerful download manager on Mac platform. Fast and easy. A can-do-without for my RapidShare downloading.

I have tried a few other applications. But none could match Speed Download's features and convenience.

Two licenses for $20, sweet! Support team is great too.

AKROBAT  True. Leech works great on my Intel but useless on my PPC. OS 10.5 only!

FACTORYJOE  I bought Speed Download ages ago and even paid for the 4 to 5 version upgrade. They put out far too many updates to warrant continuing to pay for upgrades though.

I've switched to Leech. Simple, sweet, priced right.

YAZSOFT SUPPORT  As a user, I would feel a lot more comfortable when a software I invest in is continuously updated. To me, it shows serious dedication on behalf of the developer. Speed Download is regularly tested by over 100 beta testers to ensure optimal performance and compatibility. As the internet is continuously changing, we adapt to ensure that you (the user) doesn't feel a thing. Updates are always FREE and our R&D is continuously growing to accommodate the growing needs of our users.

FACTORYJOE  I agree that Speed Download has been in continuous development and that's a good thing. Remember, I *paid* for Speed Download! The problem is that I can't afford to keep paying for upgrades when major releases come out as often as they seem to, especially when the majority of changes seem cosmetic, and haven't really added much additional value given my basic workflow.

I still like Speed Download, it's just that Leech is a lot lighter and simpler and meets my needs; it's unclear whether this Lite version of SD is really "lite" after all, or just a rushed version to take on Leech.

YAZSOFT SUPPORT  Thanks for following up.

Upgrades are commonplace in the industry. Eventually, even Leech (or any other software developer) will charge you (unless the developer decides he wants to work for free, which is fine).

The Speed Download 5 upgrade has undergone A LOT of under the hood changes. The entire download mechanism has been re-done and almost all features of the applications have been beefed up. Visually, there's a lot of nice changes but the true change is under the hood and there is a lot more coming (free to all registered 5.x users).

An important note is that the upgrade is OPTIONAL. The previous version SD4, is still supported.

Speed Download Lite was born out of heavy demand from our user base that felt they need not pay for features they don't use and not because of any other software. The Lite version has been stripped of everything but the download manager. However, if you have SD5, you can easily turn it into SD Lite. Simply email us directly.

Thanks again for all your feedback. We're always hear to listen :-)

YAZSOFT SUPPORT  If you really want the lightest of em all, simply use your browser's download manager :-)

If you want a fully customizable and reliable download manager that has an aggressive R&D team behind it, I can propose Speed Download.

Anyone can design an interface with nothing in it. Putting substance into a product is a whole different ball-game. There's a minimum to how 'lite' something can be while at the same time being useful.

Check this out for more customizing options:

To make SD5 into SDL:

Step 1:Go under the Speed Download menu and choose 'Switch to Simple mode'
