Find and Delete Files/Folders are two applications that will let you select files or folders on your hard drive and send the files or folders to the trash. You can then choose to empty the trash, secure empty the trash or leave the items in the trash. Before deciding on which action to take, you can view the contents of the trash to ensure that you don't accidently delete files or folders you need. There are two separate applications - one for files (find-and-delete-files.app) and one for folders (find-and-delete-folders.app).
