TRASHIE  Oh this is nice...mac lacks a really good player that is stable and plays anything you throw at it. Wonder if this could be the one. QuicktimeX needs more work, vlc can be buggy, the mplayer variants never work as well on macs as on linux. Ofc YMMV. I am using this one more and more now so give it a try it is FREEEEEEEEE!

JON555  Awesome player. Plays just about anything, and does it well. No messing with settings or BS like that. Basically VLC, except with a better UI. My only concern is if it will continue to be supported. Keep up the good work developers (if you're still working on it)!

LEONCAHUN  Very fine player, gets a lot of usability things right, i.e. makes them as simple as they should be (cursor keys for forward/backward step, sound up/down, frame steps, snapshot shortcut, etc), where other players lack or feel a bit clumsy.

I think (in 0.6.8, under 10.5.8) there is an issue with snapshots in full screen mode (the colors get distorted); also, it would be nice if one could disable the control inserts like "stop," "pause," "play" (they're shown for a second or something) -- for instance if one wants to take a snapshot of a paused film. Or, it would be great if the snapshot would just omit the displayed overlayed text. Just a little thing, but it's about usability.

Finally, in some (rather rare) cases sound is missing when played with the automatically chosen codec (ffmpeg or Quicktime) -- in cases like that, I found that it always helped just to switch the codec manually (clicking on the codec symbol in the top right corner), and the sound came back.

Possible to have more than one movie file open in future updates?

TIMPL  Really great video player for OS X. Comparing to VLC, MPlayer OSX Extended and MplayerX, Movist is the winner.

GARY30  I like the Movist's UI. It is really easy to use. So far, my only problem has been playing VOB files. Not all VOB's are affected. For those that are affected, if I Pause the VOB and then hit Play to resume, the time marker jumps back to the very beginning and plays from there. Might have more to do with the file than Movist. However VLC handles these affected VOB files fine.

TEKL  If it would support embedded/soft subtitles in MP4/M4V files it could replace all other players.
