FORMICA  WOW! Movist is MUCH better than QuickTime Player. It's way more customizable: play speed can be adjusted from half speed all the way up to triple time, you can set a range within a movie's duration to loop, it will play partially downloaded movies, it's subtitling features are super customizable, and a whole bunch more. I'm changing the MIME type settings on my Mac so everything that would normally play with QuickTime now plays with Movist! And it's FREE!!!! Seriously, it's much, much better than any other movie player I've tried, including MPlayer OSX Extended, VLC, QT, Chroma, QTAmateur and NicePlayer.

Kudos to the developers!

WILLYA  Movist seems to have a pretty bad memory leak in Snow Leopard. In the course of watching a movie the memory usage goes up to over 800mb!

NYMPHE  Unfortunately it is quite bad. If you pause the movie, you'll see everything lags at the system. I am sure it is easy to fix, and hopefully they update it soon, because Movist is really very good movie player.

In the project site, you can enter this problem at the "issues" page.

MARKOH  it seems like a nice player but my audio is split when playing mkv files. i.e. speech on the left and music on the right.

DR. GIRLFRIEND  Movist is usually pretty damn awesome, but this update is bad news on Snow Leopard. There's a huuuge memory leak -- it gobbles up over 2GB of RAM playing a simple .avi file on my system. Stay far away if you're on Snow Leopard.

Use VLC until this issue gets fixed.

ANG  The interface is CLEAR !

All the dreamed options are here !

You can switch between ffd or quicktime...

I have one thing to say :

THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO PLAYER ON MAC...

Goodbye horrible quicktime,

goodbye VLC (not bad of course, but really under Movist in term of aesthetical and ergonomical points).

Big thank you to the developper

NICHOLAS RILEY  Very nicely done - a good mix between MPlayer's keyboard friendliness and being a real Mac application. The ability to switch between FFmpeg and QuickTime decoding without losing your place in the video is especially appreciated.

Only feature I really miss from MPlayer is the ability to play partially downloaded videos. Given how well Movist keeps your place in a video already, it seems it should be trivial to simply reload a video when you get to the end of it, rather than terminating playback.

FUMOFFU!?!  Doesn't play subtitles by default with .MKV files when these have more than one audio track. The only way around I can find is to Reopen with QuickTime instead of the default, and then check the sub track in the Properties window.

KKNOPP  Promising application. This feels like a new application with all the bugs and oddness that comes with new applications. But unlike other ones, this has promise. It's not VLC killer right now, but give it maybe a year and it might very well be. In the meantime however, it's not ready for prime time usage.

TESLANAUT  Holy CRAP this version (0.6.6) needs to fix that Memory problem. It devoured ALL MY RAM playing a 720p MP4 video. Definitely need to fix that problem.
